USER GUIDE - VELTIUM LITE
4. COMMUNICATING WITH THE CHARGER
The VELTIUM App is the interface for using, configuring and consulting the LITE charger. However, the
charger can communicate with the VELTIUM App in another two ways:
BLUETOOTH COMMUNICATION
Once the charger has been associated to a VELTIUM user account (see the GETTING STARTED
section of this USER GUIDE), the charger will automatically connect to the VELTIUM App, provided
that you are within the Bluetooth range (8-10 metres) and that the App is at least running in the
background on your mobile phone.
The Bluetooth connection only allows one user to connect to the charger at any given time; this
means that if more than one user has the VELTIUM App running within the Bluetooth range, only
one of them (the first one detected by the charger) will be connected to it.
If you have difficulty connecting the VELTIUM App to the charger using Bluetooth (the App will
show the charger status as being OFFLINE), check the following:
1.
Check that the charger is switched on, that you are within the Bluetooth range (8-10
metres) and that the VELTIUM App is not closed (it must at least be running in the
background).
2.
Check that there are no other users near the charger whose App may have connected to
it.
3.
Check your mobile phone settings to ensure that Bluetooth (and Location on phones with
an Android OS) is enabled.
4.
Check your mobile phone settings to ensure that the access permissions for Bluetooth
(and Location on phones with an Android OS) are enabled and set at 'Always' for the
VELTIUM App. (If you choose 'Only while using the App' you may have problems when
the App is running in the background).
INTERNET COMMUNICATION
There are three different options for connecting the charger to the Internet:
1.
WI-FI : check that the signal of the WI-FI network to which you want to connect the
charger is strong enough at the point where it is installed. Consult the MANAGING THE
CHARGER FROM THE VELTIUM APP – SETTINGS section of this USER GUIDE for
instructions on how to configure WI-FI communication.
2.
Local Area Network : check that the charger is connected to the local area network by
Ethernet cable, and that the router and other elements (switch, etc.) of said network have
a power supply and are working correctly. Consult the MANAGING THE CHARGER
FROM THE VELTIUM APP – SETTINGS section of this USER GUIDE for instructions on
how to configure communication using the local area network.
3.
Mobile data (only in some models): to be able to connect the charger using mobile data,
you must have a charger with a built-in modem (an optional extra), you must have
installed a network operator SIM card and said operator's signal must be strong enough
at the point where it is installed. Consult the MANAGING THE CHARGER FROM THE
VELTIUM APP – SETTINGS section of this USER GUIDE for instructions on how to
configure communication using mobile data.
Once the charger is connected to the Internet you can either perform operations or consult
information remotely and in real time.
If the WI-FI or data network signal is low or intermittent, or the Internet provider service fails, the
information you will see on the VELTIUM App may be incomplete or out of date, and you may
even be unable to communicate with the charger.
In the event of the user being near the charger, meaning that it can choose to connect with either
Bluetooth or the Internet, the App will choose to connect using Bluetooth.
For security reasons, the charger settings can only be changed if you are connected
to the device by Bluetooth, never remotely.
Only in LITE Uno and LITE Kubo chargers.
