Horse and cattle shearing machine GT474(K) / GT677(K) and cutter head GT367
CAUTION
Do not under any circumstances switch on the
machine if it has not been properly fitted out
with cutter plates!
Always unplug the machine before carrying out
any maintenance work on it.
Always lay the machine on a dry surface, and
store it in a dry place.
ATTENTION
Please note
The overload switch shuts the machine down if there is excessive
pressure on the plates, if the cutting head is jammed, or if the motor is
malfunctioning. When the overload switch is activated, the head of the
switch pops out of the back of the motor cover.
Inspect the machine with the plug disconnected from the socket, and
eliminate the cause of the shutdown. The overload switch can be
turned back on after a few minutes by pressing the head of the switch,
which is at the back of the motor.
5. Oiling the cutter head
Important
Oil the machine only while it is running!
Never immerse the machine or the cutter head in liquid of any kind.
Use light machine oil, order no. GT604.
Oiling hole A should be kept well-oiled, depending upon the animal
(see fig.).
The swing blade 10 should be oiled 2-3 times daily with 3-4 drops
of oil (see fig.).

6. Greasing the gear wheel
Use only gear grease GT605!
1-2 times per shearing season apply approx. 1 cm of grease to
opposing points on the gear wheel 11 (see fig.).
Remove the cutter head (see section 9).
7. Changing the cutter plates
Important: Unplug the machine before changing the cutter
plates!
Turn the knurled nut 3 and the regulating screw 4 2 complete
turns.
Then loosen the two clamping screws 9, pull the lower cutter
plate 1 forward and remove the upper cutter plate 2.
Before installing the upper cutter plate 2 be sure the oscillating
blocks 8 engage in the groove in the oscillator 7 that is provided
for them.
Additionally, when installing the upper cutter plate 2 be sure that
both tips B of the oscillator 7 engage properly in the boring C of
the upper cutter plate 2 (see fig.).
Then slide the lower cutter plate 1 beneath the head of the
clamping screw 9 as far as it will go until it touches the cutter head
housing, and tighten the two clamping screws 9.
Finally, tighten the regulating screw 4 until the two cutter plates
exert slight pressure on each other.
8. Adjusting plate pressure
The adjustment should be carried out while the device is running and
without the aid of any tools.
First loosen the knurled nut 3 and then carefully loosen the
regulating screw 4 until the upper cutter plate 2 is no longer
exerting pressure on the lower cutter plate 1 (sound of machine
becomes higher-pitched).
Then tighten the regulating screw 4 until you feel slight resistance.
From this point, give the screw another approx. ¼ turn and then
attach the 3 knurled nut.
Avoid setting the pressure on the cutter plates too high, as this will
lead to excessive heat build-up, which in turn will cause increased
wear.
