10.4 Helix test

It is a physical test (spare code 267-S) enabling to verify steam penetration capability into
hollow loads. For the test a standardized system is used which complies with the technical
standards in force.
USE
There is no preset testing interval, apart from areas to which specific
regional regulations apply. Hence in order to constantly monitor the
autoclave performance, it is advisable to perform the test at least
once every 30 days.
Put the test device into the empty chamber.
Fit the suitable indicator strip into the test device end cap, then
position the test device on the central tray of the autoclave.
Perform the suitable cycle, indicated in the autoclave display, then
remove the test device, open the cap and check the indicator strip
colour change.
the assessment is simple and rapid.
If the colour change turns out to be
uniform (as shown in the figure) the
test perfectly succeeded. On the
contrary the test failed, hence the
autoclave cannot properly sterilize
porous bodies.
