IR40BV and IR40BS Paving Breakers are designed for the disintegration of low to medium strength materials (e. g. concrete,
masonry bituminous as phalt etc). The tool is intended for vertical or inclined down ward break ing.

PLACING TOOL IN SERVICE
• Always operate, inspect and maintain this tool in ac cor-
dance with all regulations (local, state, fed eral and
country), that may apply to hand held/hand operated
pneumatic tools.
• For safety, top performance, and maximum du rability
of parts, operate this tool at 103 psig (7.0 bar/700 kPa)
maximum air pressure at the inlet with 3/4" (19 mm)
inside diameter air supply hose.
• Always turn off the air supply and dis connect the air
supply hose before installing, removing or ad justing any
accessory on this tool, or before per forming any main te-
nance on this tool.
• Do not use damaged, frayed or deteriorated air hoses and
fi ttings.
• Be sure all hoses and fi ttings are the correct size and
are tightly secured. See Dwg. PP1 for a typical piping
arrangement.
• Always use clean, dry lubricated air at 103 psig (7.0 bar/
700 kPa) maximum air pressure. Dust, corrosive fumes
and/or excessive moisture can ruin the motor of an air
tool.
• Do not lubricate tools with fl ammable or vol atile liquids
such as kerosene, diesel or jet fuel.
• Do not remove any labels. Replace any dam aged label.
The use of other than genuine Ingersoll-Rand re placement parts may result in safety hazards, de creased tool
performance, and increased maintenance, and may invalidate all warranties.
Repairs should be made only by authorised trained personnel. Consult your nearest Ingersoll-Rand Au thorised Servicenter.

USING THE TOOL
• Always wear eye protection when operating or per forming
maintenance on this tool.
• Always wear hearing protection when op erating this
tool.
• Keep hands, loose clothing and long hair away from ro-
tating end of tool.
• Anticipate and be alert for sudden changes in motion
during start up and operation of any pow er tool.
• Keep body stance balanced and fi rm. Do not over reach
when operating this tool.
• Tool accessories may continue to impact briefl y after
throttle is released.
• Air powered tools can vibrate in use. Vi bration, re petitive
motions or uncomfortable positions may be harmful to
your hands and arms. Stop using any tool if dis comfort,
tingling feeling or pain oc curs. Seek medical advice be-
fore re suming use.
• Use accessories recommended by Ingersoll-Rand.
• This tool is not designed for working in ex plosive at mo-
spheres.
• This tool is not insulated against electric shock.
