Maintenance and repair
WARNING
Do not use halogenated hydrocarbon
solvents such as methylene chloride or
1, 1, 1-trichloroethane in this pump.
An explosion can result with aluminium
and/or zinc-plated parts in pump come
in contact with halogenated hydrocar-
bon solvents.
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury.
WARNING
Release all pressure within system prior
to performing any overhaul procedure.
• Disconnect air supply line from pump
motor.
• Into an appropriate container, operate
control valve to discharge remaining
pressure within system.
Failure to comply may lead to per-
sonal injury.
WARNING
Do not point a control valve at any por-
tion of body or another person. Acciden-
tal discharge of pressure and/or mate-
rial can occur.
Failure to comply may lead to death or
serious personal injury.
Overhaul
NOTE
Refer to Fig. 3 (page 11), Fig. IPB 1
(page 15) and Fig. IPB 2 (page 17) for
component identification for all overhaul
procedures.
Disassembly
1 Unscrew adapter (11) from air motor
housing.
2 Remove washer (10) and rubber
bushing (9).
Separate pump tube from
air motor
3 Clamp motor housing (4) horizontally in
a vise.
4 Loosen jam nut (22) that secures pump
tube (31) to air motor (4).
NOTE
Support pump tube during removal.
Damage to components can occur.
5 Unscrew pump tube (31) ,with attached
components, from air motor.
6 Pull on pump tube to expose
coupling (23).
7 Remove upper spring clip (24) that
secures pump tube rod (25) to
coupling (23).
8 Rotate entire pump tube (31) and
unscrew coupling (23) from air motor
piston rod.
8
Pump tube upper packing
9 Unscrew cap screws (8) that secure
body (7) to air motor. Do not remove cap
screws from body.
10 Remove body from air motor. Use cap
screws as levers.
11 Position body on bench with larger
diameter facing upward.
12 Remove aluminum gasket (20),
washer (21), and additional gasket (20)
from body.
13 Remove spacer (19), washer (18),
and seal (17).
14 Remove lantern ring (16) with seal (15),
and spacer (14). Remove seal from
lantern ring.
15 Remove inner o-ring (13) and outer
o-rings (5) and (6) from body.
Pump tube
16 Pull upper coupling (23) until contents of
pump tube are removed from
cylinder (31).
17 Remove lower spring clip (24) from
upper coupling (23). Unscrew and
remove upper coupling from rod (25).
18 Remove two spring clips (24) from lower
coupling (23). Unscrew and remove rod
from lower coupling, then remove lower
coupling from adapter (26).
19 Unscrew and remove valve seat (30)
from adapter (26).
20 Remove piston (29), ball (28),
and spring (27).
21 Grip foot valve body (33 or 35) and
unscrew from cylinder (31).
22 For model 7783-C4, remove o-ring (34)
from foot valve body (35).
23 Tap out pin (36) from foot valve
body (33 or 35) and remove ball (32).
24 Clean and inspect all parts for wear or
damage.
