Using electrodes (MMA welding)
To select the appropriate electrode, check the technical
data provided by the manufacturer. The electrode
choice depends on the thickness, the type of material to
be worked and the welding current.
When you select the electrode you want, the inverter
will display the most suitable welding current and
workpiece thickness. You can choose the thickness of
the workpiece, as the inverter will indicate the most
suitable electrode and welding current.
The working angle between the electrode and the
workpiece should be between 20° and 30°.
Do not exert too much pressure on the piece to be
welded, this can damage the workpiece and the
electrodes. When welding, keep a safe distance.
Creating the arc
1. Touch the electrode shortly to the workpiece melting
point to create the welding arc;
2. Lift the electrode slightly (2-5 mm). The arc is
produced between the workpiece and the electrode.
LIFT TIG
LIFT TIG is a type of welding deriving from TIG (Tungsten
Inert Gas) where a tungsten electrode is used in the
welding torch and an inert gas (usually Argon) to protect
the welding bead.
The LIFT TIG has the distinctive characteristic that the
welding torch has a slight difference compared to the
conventional TIG torch, as the latter does not have a
trigger to activate the welding arc.
To start arc welding, simply have the gas connected to
the gun, set at the required intensity using the gun
regulator and create a small friction of the electrode tip
with the workpiece.
HOT START
This function is used to make it easier to open the arc
between the electrode and the workpiece, increasing
the amperage the second the electrode touches the
workpiece, lowering it immediately afterwards so as not
to damage the workpiece.
This function makes it easier to start welding.
ARC FORCE
This function, as the name indicates, forces the arc
between the electrode and the workpiece, in the event
that the workpiece has paint residue, rust, dirt or if the
electrode is too far away from the workpiece. An
inverter welder without this function would stop
welding in these situations.
This function allows the inverter to increase the
amperage in order to keep the arc open, helping to
finish the weld without stopping or sticking the
electrode.
ANTI STICK
This function allows you to remove electrodes sticking
to the workpiece without damaging them by
overcurrent.
In an inverter welder lacking this function, if the
electrode sticks to the workpiece, the inverter
continues to supply welding current, causing it to be
damaged by the overcurrent.
By using this function, if the electrode gets stuck, the
inverter cuts off the current supply until the electrode
gets loose and does not damage it.
