WARNING
Burn hazard. The engine and muffler become very hot during operation and require cool-
down time after the engine is stopped
Do not touch the engine, muffler, or spark plug until the machine is cool.
Perform the procedure below to clean and check the spark plug.
1.
Remove the cap (a) and spark plug cap (b).
2.
Clear away dirt around the spark plug base.
3.
Dismantle the spark plug with a spark plug wrench (c).
4.
Visually check the spark plug. Clean with a steel brush. If the insulator is
damaged, replace the spark plug instead.
5.
Measure the spark plug clearance (d) with a feeler. The clearance (d) should be
6.
0.6 - 0.7 mm. If adjustment is necessary, bend the side electrode carefully.
7.
Install the spark plug. (Torque: 20.0 N.m)
8.
Install the spark plug cap and cover.
NOTICE: A loose spark plug can become very hot and may cause engine damage If a
torque wrench is not available when installing a spark plug, a good estimate of the
correct torque is 1/4 - 1/2 turn past finger tight.
The spark plug has now been cleaned and checked.
