Installation
The DHW cylinder must be installed in such a way that it can be drained without
being uninstalled.
The relevant connections must be designed for the expected temperature, or else
the temperature must be limited by means of a mixing valve. DHW temperatures
above 60 °C must be limited to 60 °C by means of a mixing valve.
Hot water can cause injuries, in particular scalding.
6.4
Safety valve
According to EN 12897, a DHW cylinder must be fitted with an individually tested
Please
diaphragm safety valve at the cold water inlet. In selecting and sizing this item,
Note
the applicable technical rules and regulations, in particular EN 1988-200 and
EN 12828 must be observed.
− The internal diameter of safety valves for sealed unvented DHW cylinders is
determined according to the following table: The relief line (discharge pipe)
corresponds to the total heating output from all connected heat generators to
be protected. If a solar thermal system is connected to the cylinder, a heating
output of 1.5 kW per collector is assumed when selecting a suitable DHW
safety valve.

− Safety valves must be installed in the cold water line.
− There must be no shut-off valves, constrictions and strainers between the
safety valve connection and the DHW cylinder.
− The safety valves must be positioned for ease of access, near the DHW cylin-
der.
− The supply line to the safety valve must have at least the internal diameter of
the safety valve.
− The safety valve must be positioned so that the connected relief line can be
laid with a fall. The cross-section of the relief line must be at least that of the
safety valve outlet.
− It is advisable to site the safety valve above the DHW cylinder so that it can be
replaced without having to drain the heating.
− It is advisable to place an information sign close to the safety valve relief line
or on the safety valve with the following inscription: "For safety reasons, water
may be discharged from the relief pipe during heating. Do not close off."
The safety valves are supplied permanently set by the manufacturer. The chosen
safety valve must have a nominal set pressure that is the same as or lower than
the DHW cylinder's permissible operating pressure. The maximum pressure in the
cold water supply pipe must be at least 20 % below the nominal set pressure for
the safety valve. If the maximum pressure in the cold water supply pipe is higher,
a pressure reducer must be fitted.
