Figure 6: Installation of swing-out rotor (from up to down: 5 mm hexagonal wrench; nut;
Once rotor is installed, each time before and after use it is
necessary to check if rotor position has changed or not and
tighten the nut if necessary to assure a solid installation of rotor.
5.6 Calculation of maximum permitted rotor load
There is a big centrifugal force when Medibas+ centrifuge is working at maximum speed.
The rotor is designed with the enough mechanical strength to support the maximum permitted
speed; this is called "security factor". However, this security factor requires that the rotor load
does not exceed the maximum permitted load.
If the sum of samples, tubes and adapters exceed the maximum permitted load of rotor
then it is necessary to reduce the weight of the sample or re-calculate the rotor permitted
speed (NPERM) to assure that the rotor laod does not exceed the máximum permitted load:
NPERM=Nmax×(Max. Permitted load/real load)×0.5
For this, it is necessary to take into account that the density of sample must not be higher
3
than 1.2 g/cm
; if density of sample is higher than this value then the maximum permitted
speed of rotor should be reduced and re-calculated according to above formula.
Don't use the rotor overload, or it will cause explosion of the rotor
and the debris will damage the centrifuge.
