Note: The uppercase letters refer to the hardware and the
parts in the kit. The lowercase letters refer to the existing
hardware and parts.
WARNING
Disengage the electric clutch (PTO). Shut off the engine,
remove the key, and wait for all the moving parts to stop
before attaching, adjusting, or disconnecting any part of
the collection system.
Install the Mulch Baffle
1. On the inner side of the mulch baffle (A, Figure 1), put
the carriage bolts (B) into the side holes and install the
pushnut retainers (C).
2. On the inner side of the mulch baffle, put the carriage
bolt (D) into the top hole and install the pushnut retainer
(C).
3 . Remove the mower deck. See Tractor Operator's
Manual for the instructions to remove the mower deck.
4. Put the deflector (a, Figure 2) in the vertical position.
5. Put the mulch baffle aseembly (b) on the inner side of
the mower deck. Put the assembled hardware (c) into
mower deck holes (d).
6. On the outer side of the mower deck, install the carriage
bolt (D, Figure 3) into the hole (e).
7. On the inner side of the mower deck, install the washer
(E) onto the carriage bolt.
8. Install the nuts (F).
9. Put the deflector prop (G, Figure 4) and the discharge
latch (H) onto the assembled hardware (f) on the mulch
baffle.
Replace the Blades
1. Loosen the taptite screws (a, Figure 5) that attach the
belt covers (b).
2. Remove the belt covers.
3. Remove the belt (c) from the idler pulley (d).
4. Use a block of wood to prevent the movement of the
blade. Remove the capscrew (e, Figure 6) and the
washer (f) that attach the blades (g). Discard the
hardware.
5. Put the capscrews (I, Figure 7) into the spring washers
(J) with the concave side in the up direction.
6. Install the blades (K) to the mower deck with the lifts (h)
in the up direction. Tighten the blade capscrew to 50-60
lb-ft (67.8-81.3 Nm) while holding the top capscrew with
a wrench.
Note: Make sure the holes in the blades fit into the step
on the shaft (i).
7. Install the belt (c, Figure 8) on the idler pulley (d).
8. Install the belt covers (b) and tighten the taptite screws
(a).
Install the Left Baffle
Free Floating™ Mower Decks Only:
Note: If the mounting holes for the left front baffle are not
present, continue with steps 1 through 3. If the holes are
present, go to Step 4.
1 . On the outside of the mower deck, put the left baffle
(L, Figure 9) on the angled and the bottom edge of the
mower deck.
2. Mark the holes on the mower deck.
3. Drill two holes with 3/8" drill bit.
Frame Hung Mower Decks Only:
1. On the inside left and front of the mower deck, place the
Template (Figure 10) and align with the seam and the
bottom edge.
2. Mark the holes on the mower deck.
3. Drill two holes with a 3/8" drill bit.
4. Insert the bolts (D, Figure 11) on the inside of the mower
deck and the left front baffle. Install the nuts (F).
Install the mower deck onto the tractor. See the Tractor
Operator's Manual for the instructions.
