7. MAINTENANCE
You must maintain the unit according to the following maintenance schedule:
Period Each Time
Check engine oil
Change engine oil
Check the air filter
Wash the air filter
Air filter cover
Check the battery
electrolyte level
Spark plug
Valve clearance
Clean cylinder cover
Flush fuel tank
Battery
NOTICE: Improper maintenance or failure to correct a problem prior to operation can cause a malfunction
that could result in serious injury or death.
Always comply with the instructions and the inspection and maintenance schedules listed in this owner's
manual.
Replacement of engine oil
Please drain the oil from the engine before it cools down to ensure good oil flow.
- Remove the screw and pull out the oil dipstick.
- Unscrew the drain plug and remove the oil from the crankcase.
- Replace the drain plug.
- Fill with engine oil to the top mark on the dipstick.
- Return the oil dipstick to its original position.
Recommended engine oil: 4-stroke petrol engine oil - type SE, SF of API classification service or engine oil
(SAE 10W-30 or 15W40) or equivalent class SG.
CAUTION: Please take the used oil to a clean point. Do not dispose of it on the ground.
Used motor oil can cause skin cancer if left repeatedly in contact with it for prolonged periods. This
is unlikely unless you handle used oil on a daily basis. It is recommended that you wash your hands
thoroughly with soap and water immediately after handling used oil.
Dispose of used motor oil in an environmentally friendly manner. We recommend that you return it in
a sealed container to your local service station or recycling centre for recovery. Do not throw it in the
rubbish or pour it on the ground or into pipes.
Fuel filter maintenance
Turn the shut-off valve to the OFF position. Remove the fuel filter
housing and screen Clean the fuel filter housing and screen. Fit the
fuel filter housing and screen in its original position.
