To ensure a proper engine operation, the spark plug must
be clean and with adequate distance between the
electrodes.
There are several factors that can affect the operation of the
spark plug: incorrect carburetor adjustment and fuel
mixture, and dirty air filter. These factors cause deposits in
the spark plug electrodes, which leads to operating
problems and difficult starting.
If the appliance is running low or has difficulty starting,
check the spark plug before making any further checks.
1. Untighten the fixing screw and remove the spark plug
protection cap;
2. Remove the cap, unscrew the spark plug with the
supplied wrench and check if it is clean. If dirty, clean the
soot with a brush;
3. If the spark plug is "wet", with excess fuel, place a clean
cloth over the spark plug hole and pull the starter handle
several times without the spark plug installed;
4. Measure the distance between the electrodes with
appropriate tools. The distance should be between 0.6-
0.7 mm. If necessary, bend the electrode until it has
enough gap.
5. Place the spark plug with your hand to prevent damage
to the thread and tighten in order to compress the
sealing gasket, using the wrench provided;
6. If the spark plug does not produce any sparks, replace it.
A loose spark plug can overheat and damage the
engine.
Always use the type of spark plug recommended by
the manufacturer (VIVELA5510). An incorrect use of
a spark plug can damage the cylinder.
The idle speed is well regulated when the engine runs
smoothly in all positions and the speed at which the cutting
accessory starts moving when the throttle is pressed.
With the engine running and the throttle inactive, the
rotating accessory must remain still. If the cutting
accessory runs with the throttle inactive, it is necessary to
adjust the idle speed.
1. Check if the air filter is clean;
2. With the engine running, Rotate the regulating screw to
adjust the idle speed.
Clockwise, it speeds up.
Counter clockwise, it speeds down.
If the idle speed cannot be adjusted so that the accessories
remain still at operation breaks, call your VITO official
dealer. Do not use the machine until it has been adjusted
or repaired correctly.
If it is necessary to adjust the mixing screw "L" and / or "H",
call your official VITO distributor.
The brush cutter does not require regular lubrication;
however, the gearbox and rotation shaft grease must be
checked frequently for a longer service life.
Storage
Preparing storage for long periods is vital to avoid problems
and increase the service life of the brush cutter.
Never store the machine with gasoline in the tank.
Depending on the region and storage conditions, gasoline
can deteriorate and oxidize, causing damages in the
carburetor and fuel system, difficult starts and clogging
caused by particle deposition.
Before storage proceed as follows:
1. Remove the gasoline from the tank;
2. Start the engine until it stops due to lack of fuel;
3. Remove the spark plug and add 2-stroke engine oil (5-
10 cl) to the cylinder through the spark plug orifice;
4. Place a clean cloth over the spark plug hole and pull the
starter handle to dispense the oil throughout the
cylinder;
5. Pull the starter handle slowly while feeling some
resistance. The piston rises and the intake and exhaust
valves are closed. Leaving the engine in this position will
help protect against internal corrosion;
6. Reinstall the spark plug.
Cleaning
The brush cutter must be thoroughly cleaned after each
use. Remove any waste (grass, bush, threads) accumulated
in the cutting blade or in the rotation screw.
A careful handling protects the device and increases its
service life.
