General safety information

Explosive gases are produced during the charging process. It is important that all naked flames and sparks (including
cigarettes) are kept away from the charger.
This charger is designed for indoor use in well ventilated areas on a flat stable surface. Do not use outdoors or in
damp environment.
Disconnect the mains power supply before connecting or disconnecting the charging cables.
This equipment contains components such as switches and relays that can cause arcs and sparks. Ensure that it is
protected and used in a suitable environment.
Please read all the relevant safety instructions and guidelines for any vehicle or equipment connected to the battery
charger to ensure compatibility.
Always ensure that all equipment is earthed before use to avoid risk of electrocution.
All maintenance and repairs should be carried out by a qualified engineer.
Never use this equipment to charge non-rechargeable batteries.

Thermal overload protection

This equipment is designed with thermal overload protection in case of:
Overloads (where too much current is delivered to the battery),
Short circuit (where the charging clamps might accidently come into contact with each other),
Polarity reversal on the battery.

Charging procedure

1.
Ensure that the capacity of the battery (Ah) which is to be charged is not inferior to that indicated on the data table.
2.
Remove the charger caps to allow any existing gases to escape before charging.
3.
Check the electrolyte level and ensure that it covers the battery plates. If the level is low top up with distilled water
to cover them by approximately 5-10 mm. Take extreme caution as the electrolyte is a highly corrosive
acid.
4.
It is recommended that you regularly check the status of the battery charge by measuring the density of the electrolyte
using a hydrometer. The greater the concentration of sulphuric acid, the more dense the electrolyte becomes. The
higher the density, the higher the state of charge. The following table indicates some general guidelines:
Density value
1.28 kg/1 @ 20 °C
1.21 kg/1 @ 20 °C
1.14 kg/1 @ 20 °C
