Features
Calibration has the following features:
small diaphragm condenser with a 6 mm electret capsule for refe-
rence measurement
omnidirectional polar pattern
high SPL handling capabilities, up to 149dB SPL
perfectly flat frequency range from 50Hz to 16KHz
hard shell case, microphone mount and foam windscreen included
Application
Calibration is recommended for the following applications:
sound level measurement in venues, recording studios and on stage
(in combination with an appropriate analyzer unit)
microphone for recording sources with high sound pressure level
Operating manual
Please take Calibration out of the transport case and insert the mic care-
fully into the supplied shock-mount: it can be directly mounted to any
standard mic stand with a 5/8" or 3/8" thread (using a thread adapter).
Connect the microphone to the mic input of an appropriate preampli-
fier or analyzer using a balanced XLR cable (optional). Turn on your pre-
amplifier/analyzer and your recording and playback devices respectively
and lower the volume to the minimum. Activate the phantom power at
the preamplifier. Adjust the gain as needed.
Note: Avoid any feedback loops! Calibration is very sensitive and
therefore can be easily stimulated by so called feedback loops. If any
feedback occurs, instantly lower the pre-amplification and/or turn
down the playback volume of your monitoring system.
However, Calibration is not only recommended for measurement pur-
poses, but can also be used for capturing extremely loud audio sour-
ces: Calibration accepts levels up to 149 dB SPL without clipping.
The supplied foam windscreen is an alternative to professional pop
filters and reduces pop noises when using Chorus for voice-overs and
vocal recordings.
Instructions for Operation and Storage
The premium-quality circuitry inside the microphone is very sensitive.
To avoid any damages, don't let the microphone fall down and protect
it against excessive shock.
In order to preserve the microphone's sensitivity and audio quality,
protect it from moisture and extreme temperatures.
If you do not use Calibration, you should pack the microphone in the
supplied transport case.
