3. INSTALLATION

3.1. Placement

The DAC161 size is one unit high (44mm) 19'' standard rack .Thanks to its low
consumption no forced air cooling is needed although care must be taken to not expose the unit to
the heat of other machines.
All the external connections are made on the back panel.

3.2. Mains powering

The DAC161 operates under voltages between 90 and 264 V at 47 to 63 Hz. This device
features an over dimensioned power supply that adapts to the mains voltage in any country of the
world with no need to make any adjustments.
A 0.5A slow-blow fuse protects the unit against possible overloads. The fuse is placed
beside the mains socket on the back panel (29). Whenever the fuse blows off, disconnect the unit
from the mains and replace it by another one of the same characteristics. Contact our Technical
Service if the fuse blows again. NEVER REPLACE THE FUSE WITH ANOTHER ONE WITH A
HIGHER VALUE.
To avoid possible hum, make sure that the mains wire is far from the signal wires and that
the unit is far from noise sources such as transformers, engines,...

3.3. Configuration and connections

3.3.1. Input/output configuration

The unit has one main input, one main output and six channels that can be configured as
inputs or outputs upon convenience. The six channels are configured through the switches on the
back panel (14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24). If the switch is unpushed, the channel will perform as an
output and, if the switch is pushed, the channel will perform as an input.
There are also two mono/stereo switches (12, 26) to select the operation of the main input
and output.
3.3.2. Input/output signal connections
The unit has been designed to operate with LINE level signals. All the connections are
unbalanced and the connectors are Cinch(RCA) type.

3.3.3. Input sensitivity and output level configuration

The unit has been designed to operate with Line level signals. Internal jumpers enable the
selection of a -10dBV or 0dBV level for each channel as showed on diagram 7.1.

4. OPERATION

Once all the connections have been made, start the unit by pushing the POWER button
(11). The button will shine.
Adjust the input channel gain and after the output ones by means of the GAIN
potentiometers. The potentiometers have an adjust range from - to +10dB.
