The developing times listed in the tables represent averages, which may have to be individually
adjusted, if required. Lengthening the first developing time leads to lighter slides, shortening it to
more dense slides. First development is the critical phase of the process.
The processing times listed below are measured from the first contact of the film material with
the respective bath to the first contact with the following bath or the wash. All JOBO Autolabs are
pre-programmed accordingly. Drying should not be done at more than 60°C/140°F. Used and
fresh solutions should not be mixed with each other in order to avoid contamination.
Contamination of the first developer with traces or even with vapours coming from the color deve-
loper leads to lower maximum densities. The tank and the lid as well as the reel should be wash-
ed thoroughly with warm water after each processing. All part so the tank must be absolutely dry
before the next processing.

The filling quantities of the tanks and drums match the minimum quantity of solution needed for
the relating number of films. (For sheetfilm processing in JOBO Expert Drums, please consider
the filling amounts given in the table that comes with the manual).

Underexposed films can be pushed during processing by prolonging the first developer time.
Likewise overexposed film can be processed by reducing the first developer time.

For process control, E-6 control strips are a good help. However, we recommend to check your
processing results with the emulsion you are using in your camera, as the color reproduction of
the control strips can be different to your own production. Use control strips only to check the con-
sistency of your processing solutions.
For adjusting the color balance of some types of films, the pH value of the color developer can
be changed. The JOBO ph Correction Kit #4800 contains all necessary solutions with the accord-
ing instructions (item is not included with the E-6 chemical kit!).
