1 off synchronous motor RS stock no. 332-802
or stepper motor RS stock no. 332-947
1 off synchronous gearbox
1 off pinion
1 off spacer
2 off motor mounting screws
1 off high strength retainer RS stock no. 851-016
A pin or small applicator.
1. Ensure that the spindle of the motor is dry, clean and free from dirt
and grease.
2. Apply a little high strength retainer, RS stock no. 851-016, indirectly
(i.e. using a pin or small applicator) to the internal surface of the
pinion mounting hole. It is unnecessary and inadvisable to put
adhesive directly onto the motor spindle.
3. Tilt the motor slightly downwards and slip the pinion* over the motor
spindle as shown, using the spacer to position the pinion a set
distance away from the face of the motor mounting spigot.

4. Remove any excess and allow adhesive to set, then remove
spacer. (Allow a suitable time for hardening of adhesive - 3 hours
at 20°C.)
*Note.
5. Remove protective tape from spigot mounting hole in gearbox and
assemble the motor fitting the pinion into the gearbox such that it
engages with the first gear of the box. Tighten motor mounting
screws.
6. Check that the pinion meshes freely with the gearbox by applying
power to the motor and noting;

is facing away from the motor as shown. This will allow a
small amount of adhesive to 'well' around the motor
spindle.
