PMG INSTALLATION - DOUBLE BEARING M00FA001A
Please refer to Figures B1, B2, B3 and B4 in Appendix to Technical Note.
B1
NOTE: the PMG flange (1) is pre-assembled with PMG shaft (2), bearings (5) and (6), wave spring (7) and Seeger circlip (8).
a)
Fit the adapter (310) on the generator shaft extension, fixing with screws (320) equipped with washers (330).
b)
Fit the half-joint with through hole (350) on the adapter (310), placing the anti-rotation lock pin (370) and fastening it with
the screw (340) equipped with washer (345).
c)
Mount the threaded half-joint (380) onto the PMG shaft (2), by inserting the anti-rotation lock pin (120). Then fasten it with
the screw (107) equipped with washer (108) and spring washer (109).
d)
Fit the flange (1) fitted with the shaft to the generator shield, inserting the half-joint (380) into the central module of the
elastic joint, already mounted on the half-joint (350), and making sure to place the four through holes of the flange at the
four holes of the shield. Then fasten the flange (1) using the screws (105) provided with washers (104).
e)
Run the two electrical connection cables of the PMG (118) through the fairlead (102) and the lateral hole of the flange (1).
Then insert the fairlead into the hole of the flange.
f)
Run the two connecting cables (118) through the straight connector (114); then tighten the connector into the side threaded
hole of the flange (1).
g)
Run the cables (118) through the seal (115) and the flexible sheath (116). The flexible sheath must already be cut to size,
so that it is straight and stretched between the two locking ends of the connectors (114) and (113), see Step B4.
h)
Fasten the seal (115) at the end of the flexible sheath (116), and subsequently the head of sheath equipped with seal into
the locking end of the straight connector (114).
B2
f)
Crimp the pre-insulated FAST-ON terminals (121), see the separate hardware kit M22FD002A in Appendix, at the ends of
the two electrical connecting cables (118), into the inside of the flange (1).
g)
Connect the FAST-ON terminals of the two cables (118) to the R and T terminals inside the wound stator of the PMG (11),
shown in the detail pane.
h)
Mount the wound stator of the PMG (11) on the flange (1) by positioning the four through holes at the four holes of the
flange itself.
i)
Simultaneously to the action c), progressively pull the cables (118) towards the outside of the flange (1) through the side
hole, so as to leave inside the flange itself only the minimum part of the wiring (see sectional drawing) . CAUTION: Do not
excessively stretch the cables, but leave the inner portion of the wiring leans against the flange.
j)
Fasten the wound stator of the PMG (11) to the flange (1) through the suitable screws provided (106).
B3
a)
Fit the two tabs (117) in their specific housings of the PMG shaft (2).
b)
Mount the PMG rotor (10) on the shaft (2) making sure that the tabs (117) are inserted in the suitable housings of the rotor
hub.
WARNING: There is a high magnetic force that tends to attract the rotor (10) towards the stator (11), with
the risk of sudden and uncontrollable movements of the components. It is therefore required to pay the
utmost attention when handling the components themselves, in order to avoid damage to property or
injury to people. In any case protect the hands wearing appropriate means.
c)
Place the plain washer (119) onto the threaded shaft (2), then the safety washer (101), with the inner flap positioned in the
groove of the shaft.
d)
Tighten the lock nut (100) onto the threaded shaft end (2), and then fold one of the external teeth of the lock washer (101)
into the groove of the lock nut.
B4
a)
Place the threaded end of the connector (113) in the hole of the protection (45) or fasten it to the terminal box of the
generator, for cable passage, then fasten it inside through the plastic nut (112).
b)
Run the two electrical connecting cables (118) through the seal (115), the connector (113) and through the protection (45),
or inside the terminal box.
c)
Fasten the seal (115) at the end of the flexible sheath (116), and subsequently the head of sheath equipped with seal into
the locking end of the connector (113).
d)
Crimp the FAST-ON flag terminals (122), see separate hardware kit M22FD002A in the Appendix, at the ends of the two
wire outputs (118) for connection to the Voltage Regulator. Install the relevant insulating covers (123), see separate
hardware kit M22FD002A in the Appendix, on the two terminals. The two FAST-ON flag connectors must therefore be
connected to the Voltage Regulator according to the diagrams provided. CAUTION: Make sure that the path of the cables
inside the generator is suitable to ensure electrical safety and reliability to vibration. For this purpose, if necessary, shorten
the two cables (118).
e)
Place the PMG cover (4), provided with a rubber seal (9), into the appropriate seat of the flange (1), closing the latter. Then
fasten the cover through screws (110) provided with the relevant toothed spring washers (111).
