oPerAtion - before first use
1. Remove the packaging.
2. Clean the appliance See "Cleaning and maintenance".
T he first few times, your coffee may have a metallic taste. To prevent this, you'll first have to brew a 'try-
out' pot four to five times. Do not use your best coffee beans for it, the coffee these test rounds produce
is not meant to be served.
3. Brew a carafe of espresso. See "Brewing espresso".
4. Rinse the carafe with hot water.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 around five times.
After ample time, the inside of the carafe will discolor and attain a dark, coffee-colored layer. When this has
happened, your espressomaker is ready for optimal use.
