(4) Check that the spindle and spindle threads are not damaged or worn.
f. Correct working with the grinder
(1) Check that the work piece is properly supported or fixed.
(2) When cutting-off, the work piece shall be so supported so that the slot is kept at constant or
increasing width during the whole operation.
(3) If the abrasive product gets jammed in a cut slot, shut off the grinder and ease the wheel free.
Check that the wheel is still correctly secured and not damaged before continuing the operation.
(4) A cutting off wheel shall not be used for side grinding.
(5) Ensure that sparks resulting from use do not create a hazard.
(6) Warn against that working in certain materials creates emission of dust and fumes. Reduction of
risk to person's health is achieved e.g. by dust collectors and personal protective devices.
(7) Warn the operator to see to that no bystanders are in the vicinity.
(8) Protective safety glasses and hearing protectors shall be used. Other personal protective equi-
pment such as gloves, apron and helmet shall be used when necessary.
(9) If the machine, when fitted with an abrasive product, is dropped, the wheel should be thoroughly
examined before reuse.
(10) Disconnect the grinder from the energy supply before changing abrasive product and severing.
(11) Release the control device in the case of an interruption of the energy supply.
