AVENTICS | GSU | R402002667–BAL–001–AC | English
The GSU guided slide unit can be installed both horizontally
and vertically. It is screwed to the base plate through
mounting holes. In addition, each end has holes for guide
pins, which simplify installation in a pre-defined position.
See "Assembling the guided slide unit". The components
are named as follows
1 Compressed air
connection
2 Covers
3 Cylinder body
4 Sensor slot
5 Outer sealing strip
6 Slide with Easy-2-
Combine interface
7 Stop sleeve
8 Shock absorber
The cylinder body has integrated slots for sensors on the
top and side. See "Mounting the sensors".
The stroke is adjusted by moving the brackets on both
ends along the cylinder body. Fine adjustment of the end
position is performed using the stop screws in the
brackets. See "Adjusting the stroke".
The integrated shock absorbers ensure effective load
braking. The stop sleeves around the shock absorbers
ensure precise positioning of the slide at the stop screws.
The shock absorbers can be replaced.
The top of the slide has an Easy-2-Combine interface for
the simple, flexible attachment of loads or other AVENTICS
system components. See "Attaching a load".

Sensors
2
Magnetic sensors are used to sense the position of the
slide on the cylinder. They are available with different
lengths of cable and with different connection types.
For a description of the different types, refer to the product
catalog (see www.aventics.com).
Centering rings

Assembly
The GSU guided slide unit is configured and dimensioned
for a particular application. Never modify the unit from its
original configuration.
O Make sure that the maximum values for operating
pressure, load, torque, and speed specified in the
technical data are not exceeded.

10 Mounting hole
11 Hole for guide pin for
secure assembly in pre-
defined position
12 Stop screw for fine
stroke adjustment
13 Stop bracket for coarse
stroke adjustment
14 Blanking plugs for
alternative compressed
air connection
Risk of injury or damage due to uncontrolled rod
movements!
Connecting the compressed air supply during guided
slide unit assembly can lead to injuries or damage the
system.
O Make sure that the relevant part of the system is
depressurized while installing the guided slide unit.
O Make sure that the guided slide unit is completely
installed before connecting the compressed air
supply.
O If the system has to be left unattended during
installation, make sure that the compressed air
supply cannot be reconnected.
Watch out for suspended loads!
If the product is mounted vertically, a suspended load can
fall uncontrollably when the compressed air supply is
switched off. This could pose a risk of injury or damage.
O Always secure the area below a suspended load so
that it cannot be accessed.
Assembling the guided slide unit
The base plate of the guided slide unit has multiple
mounting holes for fixing to the mounting surface. See
Before assembly, the guided slide unit may appear slightly
instable; this effect is eliminated when the unit is
assembled on a solid, flat surface.
1. Place the guided slide unit on a solid, flat surface.
If necessary, insert guide pins into the corresponding
holes (1).
2. Attach the guided slide unit to the mounting surface
using suitable screws (2). Use screws to fasten the
guided slide unit at the ends of the cylinder and at least
in every third hole pair (c-c ≤ 300 mm).
3. Tighten the screws gradually to avoid warping.
Tightening torque: GSU 16: 6 Nm, GSU 25: 10 Nm.
For freely suspended assembly, the fastening
screws may have to be placed with smaller
spacing. In the product catalog, you will find
information on the different bending values
depending on the hole spacing and load
(see www.aventics.com).
