To avoid RCD circuit-breaker tripping, a test must be carried
out between L and N for approx. 5s.
Immediately afterwards, voltage testing between L and PE can
be carried out without the RCD switch tripping.
4.6 Continuity Test / Diode Test
Ensure that the UUT is not live b y disconnecting from
all live circuits.
The test voltage polarity at the test probe is negative (-).
Open Polaris 3 plus Voltage Tester as described on page
26.
Check that UUT is not live, by applying double-pole vol-
tage test.
Connect both test probes to UUT.
An acoustic signal
splayed to indicate continuity.
4.6 Rotary Field Indication
Polaris 3 plus Voltage Testers equirred with a two-pole Rota-
ry Field Indicator.
Operator's safety measures must be met, as described
in paragraph 2.0.
The Rotary Field Indicator is always active. The symbol
R
or
fields can only be determined in three-phase systems. The in-
strument indicates the voltage between the two external con-
ductors.
Open Polaris 3 plus Voltage Tester as described on page
26.
Connect instrument test probe with supposed phase L2
and hand test probe with supposed phase L1. Touch
contact electrode (5).
