The shot blast helmet does not have EN 397 approval regarding safety helmets.
The marking 'F' indicates that the apparatus and the compressed air supply hose can be used in situations where flammability
may be a risk.
The compressed air supply hose is heat-resistant and/or anti-static.
The system may be used with a mobile high pressure compressed air supply system, operated by an assistant at the air supply
control. When an ear protective equipment is used by the wearer or by the assistant, reduction in the audibility of the warning shall
be considered.
When a mobile high pressure compressed air supply system allows a multiple user connection, a special attention shall be given
to the necessity to ensure the required flow for each user.
2.2

Prior to use

Make sure that the compressor is placed in such a way that it cannot suck in any dangerous matter and the air inlet cannot be
obstructed. Ensure the compressor is switched on. Check that the correct operating pressure is set and clean air meeting
EN 12021 is supplied. If not, use an approved filter unit. Check that the compressor has been fitted with a suitable and adjustable
pressure relief valve and has been inspected and maintained regularly. Ensure that all components have been cleaned and
inspected as described in § 3, 4 and 5.
In accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, ensure that the capacity of the air supply system is sufficient for every user
connected to it.
Adjust the working pressure on the filter system to a minimum of least 5.5 bar. Connect the shot blast helmet using the
compressed air supply hose to the filter system. Adjust the headband to the correct length (fig. 5), and if required fit a disposable
comfort hood. Fit the shot blast helmet on your head and adjust its position to allow sufficient pressure to be created within the air
cap (fig. 6).

2.3

During use

Adjust the air volume according to requirements. The integrated air flow indicator warms the user if insufficient air is being
supplied. The airflow indicator has been fitted in such a way that the yellow pennant will not be visible when the amount of air is
sufficient and it will only function when it is positioned vertically (fig. 8). For safety reasons, the regulator cannot be completely
closed. Leave the working area immediately if there is an interruption in the air supply. Ensure that the compressed air supply
hose cannot be trapped, interfering with the air supply or preventing rapid evacuation of the work area. The shot blast helmet will
not decrease environmental sounds. Therefore supplementary hearing protection must be used.

After use

After leaving the working area, unbuckle the belt, loosen the neck bib, take off the helmet and disconnect the air supply hose.
Using a brush or a cloth, remove loose residue and dirt from the components. Clean and inspect the components according to the
instructions given in paragraphs 3 and 4. When connecting and disconnecting, take care that no dirt enters the open hose
connections.
3. CLEANING AND DISINFECTION
After each session, clean the air hood using Honeywell EPI U-S 19a cleaning and disinfecting agent (part number 1779065).
Subsequently, rinse thoroughly with clean water (do not use solvents). The face collar or neck bib can be washed in a washing machine,
using a mild detergent at 30°C. Using EPI U-S 19a disinfectant, clean the inner surfaces of the air hood. Refer to the instructions given
by the manufacturer. For reasons of hygiene, the same person should preferably wear the air hood. Using compressed air, blow the
coupling and the regulator clean. Finally, using a dry cloth, dry all the metal components, to avoid corrosion. When cleaning, take care
not to inhale hazardous matter that is released during the cleaning.
4. MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION
Shot Blast Helmet
Positioning the disposable windows: after opening the window frame on the COMMANDER helmet, fit one disposable window (fig. 9).
For PANORAMA helmets, fit one more disposable window as protection for the safety glass (fig. 9).
Changing the cape: the bib/cape can be changed by pushing the rubber helmet cover partly back (fig. 10).
Compressed air filter system
For further information about the airline filter unit, refer to the manual supplied.
After replacing the components, carry out a functional check.
Functional check: after cleaning, disinfecting or changing components check operation of the system. Inspect all essential components
for damage or dirt and, if required, replace these with original spare parts. If the yellow pennant of the airflow indicator shows insufficient
air in the air hood, although the pressure is correctly adjusted, this could indicate that a blockage has occurred in the filter system, the
compressed air hose, coupling or silencer. During this check, hold the air hood in the vertical (normal working) position.
Checking hose system for leakages: air supply hose and couplings, manual testing with pulling force. Connect the air hood to the
compressed air filter system and adjust the supply pressure; the filter system and air supply hose should not give audible leaks.
5. MAINTENANCE FREQUENCY

Usage duration of filters
Fluids will be drained continuously by the filter element. Pressure loss is caused by particles on the surface and in the microporous
medium of the filter element. It is advisable to renew the filters when a pressure difference of 0.6 bar occurs. For safety reasons, the
activated-carbon filter should be renewed at least every 6 months, or at the same time as the coarse filter.
6. STORAGE
After use and cleaning, store the entire system in a cool, dry and dark location. Take measures to prevent components of the system
coming into contact with oils, grease, solvents, acids or other chemicals.
