Electrical system for towing hitch
Connecting the trailer control module
13. Plug the 12-pin plug and the 18-pin plug into the trailer control module (Fig. 1/10).
14. Fasten the trailer control module in the lower right-hand area of the vehicle's rear using some
velcro tape.
Note (not for Panda SUV)
On vehicles with the steering wheel on the right side, disconnect the 4-pin plug-in connection
near the control unit and connect it with the loose plug-in connection marked with "GB" which
is intended for vehicles with the steering wheel on the right side (Fig. 1/11).
15. Lay all the other cables on the left side along the vehicle's cable harness to the front up to the
body computer (NPL) (Fig. 1/1).
16. Connect the black wires with the eyelet to the vehicle's ground point (Fig. 1/3).
17. Disconnect the 3-pin plug-in connection (Fig. 1/2A) on the left side next to the body computer
(Fig. 1/1).
18. Open the secondary lock of the pin housing (see Fig. 2).
19. Insert the quick-connect receptacle of the red wire (Fig. 2) from the cable harness into the
free chamber of the pin housing and close the secondary lock again.
20. Close the 3-pin connector (Fig. 2) again.
21. Insert the supplied 15A-fuse into fuse compartment F36 in the fuse box in the engine
compartment.
22. Only for 13-pin trailer socket:
Using the 3-pin connector for the constant plus extension kit (Fig. 1/8), the functions
"Constant plus", "Charge lead" and "Ground for charge lead" can be retrofitted.
The constant plus extension kit is available from specialist shops under the Westfalia part no.
300 025 300 113.
Checking correct operation
23. Reconnect the ground of the vehicle's battery.
24. Check the trailer function with the help of a suitable test instrument (with load resistors) or
with the help of a trailer.
25. Secure all cables using cable ties.
26. Refit any parts removed for installation.
