This manual has safety information and instructions to help you
eliminate or reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.
Understand Signal Words
A signal word will identify safety messages and property damage
messages, and also will indicate the degree or level of hazard
seriousness.

could result in death or serious injury.

To reduce the risk of accidents and injuries, please observe the
following directives before proceeding to use this product:
• Read and follow all safety information and instructions.
• Read and understand these instructions before using this
product.
Introduction
This manual is part of the Y50 AC-to-DC Adapter ("adapter")
and contains important instructions concerning safety, use, and
disposal. Before using the adapter, please familiarize yourself
with all use and safety instructions. Only use the adapter as
described and for the indicated purpose. If you pass the adapter
on to anyone else, include all of the documentation.
The manufacturer accepts no liability for damage in the following
cases:
• Faulty assembly or connection
• Damage to the adapter resulting from mechanical influences
and excess voltage
• Alterations to the adapter without express permission from
the manufacturer
• Use for purposes other than those described in this manual
General Safety Messages
WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK, FIRE, AND/OR
HEALTH HAZARD. Failure to obey these warnings
could result in death or serious injury:
• Do not operate the adapter if it is visibly damaged.
• Ensure the adapter's power cable is not trapped or damaged.
• If this adapter's power cable is damaged, it must be replaced
by the manufacturer, customer service, or a similarly qualified
person.
• This adapter and the power cable are not toys. Always keep
and use them out of the reach of children.
CAUTION: ELECTRICAL SHOCK AND/OR HEALTH
HAZARD. Failure to obey the following cautions
could result in minor or moderate injury:
• Do not operate in an environment where it may get wet.
• Never immerse the adapter or the power cable in water.

• Do not place the adapter near flames or other heat sources
such as heaters, direct sunlight, or gas ovens. The adapter it-
self will get hot when it is in use, so do not restrict ventilation
around the adapter or put things on top of it.
• Do not open the adapter or insert probes into the adapter.
• Do not rotate the DC plug in the adapter socket. Push
straight in and pull straight out.
• The surrounding temperature should not exceed
104 °F (40 °C) when the adapter is in use.
• Ensure the adapter output does not exceed the rated value,
which displays on the adapter rating label.
• Disconnect the adapter before each cleaning, maintenance,
and after every use.
NOTICE: Failure to obey the following notices could result in
damage to the adapter.
• Do not pull the DC plug out of the adapter socket by the
cable.
• Protect the adapter and the power cable against heat and
moisture.

Intended Use

This adapter is designed for indoor use only, and is intended as
an AC-to-DC wall adapter for thermoelectric coolers and other
devices with a 12 VDC operating voltage and a maximum current
of 5 A.

Cooler 12 VDC Plug

Firmly insert the cooler's 12 VDC plug into the adapter's 12 VDC
socket opening. Insert the adapter's two-prong AC plug directly
into a functioning AC power source.
The adapter has a circuit breaker to protect you against output
overload. If the circuit breaker trips, disconnect the adapter from
the AC power source. Allow the adapter to cool for at least five
minutes to reset the circuit, and then you may reinsert the adapt-
er's two-prong AC plug into the AC power source.
