11).- Tensioning the chain -
It is normal for the drive chain to become slack with use and over time.
Tensioning procedure.-
1)
Loosen the safety bolt on the inertia
flywheel (69) Fig. A.
2)
Adjust the chain tension by turning the
adjustment nuts (22) anticlockwise (on the
side shown in the diagram) and clockwise
on the other side.
3)
It is advisable to make a ¼ turn each time
on both sides of the flywheel.
4)
Do
not
turn
excessively, otherwise the chain will be
overtightened and may damage the shaft as well as the bearings on the
flywheel.
5)
After completing the steps above, retighten the safety nuts (69) on both sides
of the flywheel.
