MIXING
The speed of the fade, when the [INSTA A/B] buttons are pressed, is determined by the AUTO FADE
SPEED knob on the front panel.
FADER START: Fader Start allows you to start a selected pad by moving the fader toward the deck that it
is loaded on. For example, if the crossfader is in an extreme left or right position, moving it toward the
opposite side will trigger the video selected on that deck.
The FADER MODE switch determines the operation of the Fader Start option, as specified in the software.
(Please see Reference Manual for more information on setting the Fader Mode).
VIDEO PLAYBACK CONTROLS
There are several ways that you can affect the playback of the video streams on each deck:
You may use the pitch sliders on the controller to alter the speed of the playback on each deck.
The jog wheel may be used for two different functions: Pitch Bend, and Scratching.
Rotating the jog wheel while the [SCRATCH] button is not pressed down will change the
video playback speed. Moving the wheel clockwise will speed up the video momentarily, while
moving the wheel counterclockwise will slow down the video playing on the corresponding
deck momentarily.
If [SCRATCH] button is held down while using the jog wheel, the jog wheel can be used to
scratch the video, much like a DJ scratches a record.
[LATCH]: If the [LATCH] button is pressed on, the clips on the deck will play continuously when triggered. If the [LATCH]
button is pressed off, then the clips on the deck will play for as long as the corresponding pad is held down.
[AUTO]: Press this button to play the clips (cells) of the current bank in a random automated fashion.
[SYNC]: Press this button to synchronize the playback of the video clips playing on the deck to the BPM of the session. (Please
refer to the Reference Manual for information on how to route audio input in your computer, so it can be used to synchronize
NuVJ)
Once there are clips or images playing on each deck, you can use the crossfader to blend the
two together. The master mix will appear in the Master preview window in the center. This is
also the video output that will be displayed on a second output (if connected to an additional
monitor or outputting to a projection device) or if you enter Fullscreen Mode by pressing Ctrl+A
(PC) or Apple+A (Mac). You can exit Fullscreen Mode by pressing the key combination again.
You will also notice two buttons, [INSTA A] and [INSTA B], on each side of the crossfader.
These buttons allow you to quickly switch the video output to one of the decks. For example, if
you press [INSTA A], the video output will only show what is playing on deck A, regardless of
the crossfader position, until you release the [INSTA A] button.
You will also see three buttons, [LATCH], [AUTO] and [SYNC], on each side of the controller.
These buttons will affect how video clips are triggered and played on each deck.
