User fingerprint
Entitled to actuate the function (e.g.
door release). Only user fingerprints
can actuate this switching function.
To ensure that you have a record
later on of the different entitle-
ments, we advise noting down the
fingerprints and the people they
belong to in the attached fingerprint
table.
Before filling in, make a copy of the
fingerprint table.
4 Operating mode
In the FPM 611-... there are three
different operating modes and a
delete mode available.
• Group administrator mode (switch
position 5); One group administrator
fingerprint, up to 5 group master
fingerprints, up to 100 user finger-
prints distributed at will over all the
groups (totalling no more than 100
user fingerprints).
• Administrator mode
(switch position 9);
One administrator fingerprint. up to
5 master fingerprints and up to 100
user fingerprints can be scanned in.
• Master mode (switch position 1)
As-delivered status; One master
fingerprint and 100 user fingerprints
can be scanned in.
• Delete mode (other switch position
than 1, 5 or 9);
Deleting all fingerprints. If the rotary
switch is turned, all scanned-in
fingerprints are deleted (see Delete
mode).
5 Module description
a Red LED
b Green LED
c LED for lighting
d Sensor
The two LEDs (a) and (b) indicate
the status.
• Red and green LEDs flash
alternately:
After power has been connected or
the device has been initialized.
• Red LED lights up:
Module is ready for scan-in of an
administrator, master or user fin-
gerprint.
• Green LED lights up
(operating mode):
• Red and green LED off:
Fingerprint recognition being proc-
essed
• Green LED flashes for 3 secs, then
lights continuously: Finger has been
recognized.
• Red LED flashes for 3 secs, then
green LED lights continuously: Finger
has not been recognized.
• Red and green LED flash
simultaneously:
Delete mode can be activated for all
user fingerprints / module returned
to as-delivered status.
• Red LED flashes at high speed:
FPM is blocked, as an unauthorized
fingerprint has been read in several
times in succession. The block can be
lifted (operating status) by reading in
an authorized fingerprint twice. The
blocked fingerprint is automatically
unblocked after 1 min, whereby the
blocked period increases with a
rising number of unauthorized
access attempts.
Important notes
• Individual master - group master
and user fingerprints can not be
deleted in stand-alone operation,
i.e. it is only possible to delete whole
groups. If you wish to be able to
delete individual fingerprints selec-
tively, the FPM 611-... must be oper-
ated at an EC 602-... For scanning in
and deleting fingerprints, program-
ming interface PRI 602-..., program-
ming software PRS 602-... and an
IBM compatible PC are required.
• Set the required operating mode
before commissioning the
FPM 611-...! (See Changing the
operating mode)
• If the rotary switch for setting
the operating mode is adjusted, all
scannedin fingerprints are deleted
(as-delivered status)!
• In individual cases, it can happen
that a fingerprint cannot be scanned
due to absence of biometric char-
acteristics. In this case, try using a
different finger.
This applies primarily to children
and older people. In these cases it
is possible that a fingerprint is not
recognized.
• Only one master fingerprint can
enable the authorization to read in
user fingerprints.
• The group master fingerprint
issues entitlement for scanning in
user fingerprints within its respective
group.
• Only the group master fingerprint
is entitled to delete the user finger-
prints of its group.
• Only the group administrator
fingerprint is entitled to delete all
the user fingerprints of all groups.
The group master fingerprints are
retained.
• To delete group master/master fin-
gerprints, the FPM must be returned
to the as-delivered status. (See
Delete mode)
6 Draw the finger correctly over
the sensor
• To ensure that the module is able
to reliably recognize your fingerprint,
draw it over the sensor to allow it
to be scanned in. Ensure that you
maintain as constant a speed, posi-
tion and light contact pressure as
possible.
• The readin process must be
started within 10 secs following acti-
vation, as otherwise the FPM 611-...
returns to the operating status.
• Interruptions of more than 15 sec-
onds automatically return the system
to the operating mode. (Time out)
