Installation & Maintenance Information
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE REFERENCE
APPLICATION
Install in accordance with 46CFR111.75-15 and 46CFR112 for emergency marine
equipment. Battery back-up remote mounted module for LED linear MLL/DLL Series
rated 29W min. to 67W max. suitable for use in the following hazardous (classified)
locations as defined by the National Electrical Code (NEC
NEC/CEC:
• Class I, Division 2, Groups B, C, D
• Class II, Division 2, Groups F, G
• Wet location, Type 4X
• Ambients: -20°C to 55°C
UL STANDARDS:
• UL844 Hazardous (Classified)
• UL1598 Luminaires, UL1598A Marine
• UL924 Emergency Lighting
To avoid the risk of fire, or electric shock, this product should be installed,
inspected and maintained by a qualified electrician only, in accordance with all
applicable electrical codes.
To avoid electric shock:
Be certain electrical power is OFF, to both the battery backup unit and luminaire,
before and during installation and maintenance.
Battery back-up unit must be used with approved wiring and connection methods
suitable for Class I, Division 2 or Zone 2 per NEC/CEC.
To avoid explosion:
Make sure the supply voltage is the same as the input voltage rating marked on
the battery back-up unit.
Do not install where the marked operating temperatures exceed the ignition
temperature of the hazardous atmosphere.
Do not operate in ambient temperatures outside of the marked ambient range on
the battery back-up unit nameplate.
Use only replacement parts from Eaton.
Use proper supply wiring with temperature ratings as specified on the battery
back-up unit nameplate.
All gasket seals must be clean.
Before opening, electrical power to the battery back-up unit must be turned off.
Keep tightly closed when in operation.
INSTALLATION
Requires four (4) 3/8" mounting bolts (hardware not provided) to attach the battery
back-up unit to a surface (ceiling or wall).
MOUNTING
1.
Make sure the power is disconnected to the conduit system before installing
the battery back-up unit.
2.
The battery back-up unit may be mounted to a ceiling or wall using the welded
mounting tabs on the outside of the enclosure (see Figure 1). Select a
mounting location that will provide suitable strength and rigidity for supporting
the battery back-up unit.
3.
The wiring between the battery back-up unit and the linear LED fixture must
not exceed 50 feet. Select a location near the fixture that will accommodate
the wiring limit. The wiring between the battery back-up unit and the LED
fixture should not exceed 50 feet. Since the battery back-up unit is able to be
remote mounted, ensure that the hazardous location selected is suitable for
the ratings on the battery back-up unit.
4.
Do not mount as part of a pendant mounting conduit installation; mount to a
ceiling or wall only.
5.
Use 3/8" size hardware to securely mount enclosure box to desired location.
See Table 1 and Figure 1 for mounting pattern dimensions.
6.
With the battery back-up unit securely fastened to the mounting surface, attach
the conduit or cable system to the enclosure via the entry hubs. Use Eaton's
Crouse-Hinds series HTL on NPT threads to prevent water ingress. If non-
metallic conduit is used install per NEC Article 501.10B1 (b), use conduit and
fittings covered by the NEC suitable for wet locations.
7 .
Apply the provided "mounting height" label to the MLL/DLL luminaire so that
the label is visible after installation of the luminaire.

WIRING
BATTERY BACK-UP UNIT
1.
Open the battery back-up unit using a flat head screwdriver to rotate the latch
¼ turn CCW (see Figure 1).
2.
Locate the terminal block per Figure 2 or 3.
3.
Wire the branch circuit input power to the terminal block per Figure 4 or 5.
Wire the equipment grounding conductor to terminal 7 first, the common to
terminal 8 next, and the line voltage to terminal 9 last.
4.
Connect a pair of wires to the terminal block that will be used to power up the
LEDs on the fixture's LED board. See Figure 4 or 5. Connect the positive wire
to terminal 1 and connect the negative wire to terminal 2.
5.
If dimming is required:
a. Select a dimmer control with location ratings suitable for its selected
mounting location. Rated 0-10 VDC +/- 10%.
b. Locate the dimming control signal input terminal block per Figures 2 and 3.
c. Wire the dimming control signal wires per Figure 4 or 5.
d. Remove the optional control jumper on the charger driver board. If the
dimming control voltage is set too low, some flickering of the LEDs may
occur. If this happens, raise the minimum value of the analog dimming
voltage.
