1. Attaching the Valves
Flush the sprinkler lines and install the valve to the manifold with the flow direction arrow
(located on the body of the valve) pointed away from the manifold using an adapter or nipple.
Warning: DO NOT use pipe dope on threads, use thread seal tape. Do not over tighten.
2. Attaching Sprinkler Lines
Attach sprinkler lines to the valve with an adapter or nipple. Warning: DO NOT use pipe dope
on threads, use thread seal tape. Do not over tighten. Use a union at the inlet and outlet of
each valve to allow for easy valve maintenance.
3. Running the Wire
Use multicolored, jacketed sprinkler wire on 24-Volt sprinkler timers with Class II circuits. All
wiring must conform to applicable local codes.
1. Disconnect power to your sprinkler timer
2. Run sprinkler wire from your timer to the manifold assembly—18ga for distances over
800 ft. and 20ga for distances less than 800 ft.
4. Attaching the Wire
1. Remove 4 in.– 5 in. of the outer insulation of the sprinkler wire. Warning: Avoid cutting into
the wires inside.
2. Remove 7/8 in. – 1 in. of insulation from each individual wire.
3. Insert one wire from the valve and a colored wire from the timer into the small wire nut
and twist to lock the wires in the wire nut. One wire should be used for each zone with an
additional wire to be used for a common (for ease of identification, use the white wire as
the common). Note: The wire should hold firm when lightly pulled. If the wire moves freely,
remove the wire and repeat.
4. Take the second wire from each valve and the white common wire from the timer and twist
them into the large wire nut.
5. Test the System
Warning: Before proceeding, make sure cemented joints have reached the recommended
curing time (varies according to manufacturer).
1. Ensure the Manual Bleed Screws on the valves are fully closed (turn clockwise until hand
tight).
2. Turn on sprinkler supply line and check manifold and valve for leaks.
3. Turn Manual Bleed Screw counterclockwise until water flows out—run for 20 seconds and
turn clockwise to retighten. Repeat with all valves.
4. Check that the sprinkler timer is plugged in and/or the circuit breaker is on. Run each
station manually from the timer to verify electrical connection to the valve.

properly including the timer's transformer, fuse, and
programming.
Turn water off. Remove solenoid. Push a wire or large
paper clip down through the round port hole, working
it up and down to free any debris. Make sure the plunger
and O-ring are in place when reassembling the solenoid
on the valve.
Turn water off. Unscrew solenoid and replace. Make
sure the plunger and o-ring are in place when
reassembling.
Turn water off. Remove the solenoid and clean out sand
and debris. Be sure the plunger and o-ring are in place
when reassembling them on the valve.
Install a pressure regulator valve and set at about 80 PSI.

Check that the internal manual bleed is in the
closed position (turn clockwise).
Turn water off. Remove the solenoid and clean out sand
and debris. Be sure the plunger and o-ring are in place
when reassembling them on the valve.
Turn water off. Remove the valve lid and diaphragm
assembly and clean interior of the valve.
Turn water off. Remove the lid and inspect the
diaphragm for tears. Replace the Diaphragm assembly
if torn.
Solution

dope on threads.
Install a pressure regulator upstream of the valve and
set at about 80 PSI.
Turn water off. Tighten the jar-top lid ring.
Turn water off. Tighten the solenoid.
Verify that the valve is installed a minimum of 6 in.
above the highest sprinkler head (check local codes).
A small amount of leakage while the valve is turning on
or off is normal.
For large leaks, loosen the Anti-Siphon lid and check the
condition of the lid gasket and the seal carrier
dimensions:

Important Guidelines
• For outdoor use with cold water only.
• Place valves so that water drains away from the house.
• Use manifolds made of Schedule 40 PVC Pipe or Galvanized Fittings and Pipe.
• Check local codes for installation requirements.
• Use a pressure regulator if static water pressure exceeds 80 PSI.
• Install Valves a minimum of 6 in. above the highest sprinkler head (check local codes),
no back pressure on the valve, and no valve downstream from the anti-siphon.
• Pressure test all water lines and electrically test all timer connections before covering
pipe and timer control wire.
