1. Product Description and Applications
Midisart 2000 ready-to-connect filtration
units consist of a hydrophobic (PTFE)
membrane filter in a polypro pylene housing,
and are supplied in sterile or unsterile
condition. The filtration unit can be
repeatedly autoclaved. They are available
with 0.2 μm and 0.45 μm pore size
membranes, and are ideally suitable for
all small-scale air|gas sterilizing purposes,
such as:
– Sterile venting of filling vessels and
fermentation carboys including culture
vessels
– Venting of holding tanks for sterile,
distilled water and liquid culture media
– Autoclave venting
– In-line sterilization of and particulate
removal from air and gases
The excellent chemical stability of these
practical units also makes them useful for
removal of particles from chemicals and
organic solvents.
The female luer connection in the hose nipple
allows the unit to be firmly fitted onto an
appropriate syringe.

3. Directions for Use
3.1 Remove a Midisart from the box.
3.2 Before using "sterile" Midisarts, check the
bag to make sure that it is completely intact.
3.3 Cut open the packaging on one side.
3.4 Hold the packaging in one hand and
fit tubing, or a syringe, to the Midisart hose
nipple without touching it.
Midisart units can also be used for
the filtration of aqueous liquids, but the
hydrophobic PTFE membrane filter must first
be wetted with a water-miscible solvent, such
as ethanol.
