General
The RS stepper drive system backplane allows the RS stepper drive
power supply to be readily connected to two of the RS stepper drive
boards together with the RS two axis programmable controller card,
without the need to use a soldering iron, thus enabling a complete
system to be constructed in the minimum of time.
The nature of construction of the backplane and power supply enable
a very flexible two axis system to be produced. Both the 3.5A and 6A
bipolar chopper drives can be utilised, the latter with or without the add-
on microstep card, or a combination of both, as the power supply
produces a 35V and a 70V output. The drives can be fed with external
control signals or, by the simple addition of the programmable two axis
controller card, a stand alone system can be produced catering for
many applications.
The RS stepper drive system is built into a standard 220mm deep, 19
inch wide by 3U high euro rack and all connections are made via screw
terminals to the rear, as follows:
