10. Check for heartbeat: Check the heartbeat LED
(D2). It should be flashing slowly. If it is off, check the
power connections (HWI-ENC-LV32 see step 5,
HWI-ENC-LV17 see step 7). If power is present and
the Heartbeat LED is still OFF, turn power OFF and
back ON. If this condition persists, contact Lutron.
11. Check for processor communications. Check the
processor communications LED (D3). It should be on
or blinking. If it is off, communications from the
processor have been interrupted. Check the connec-
tions at the D48 link terminal block on the HWI-D48
and on the processor, and that the processor is pow-
ered.
12. If the connected HomeWorks Vareo units function
intermittently, check Vareo bus wiring and HWI-
D48 termination. (See step 4 and step 6.)
13. For HomeWorks Vareo units that appear to be wired
correctly but do not function, verify that the airgap
lever is pushed up completely.

Lutron will, at its option, repair or replace any unit that is defective in materials or manufac-
ture within two years after the purchase. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties,
express or implied, and the implied warranty of merchantability is limited to two years from
purchase. This warranty does not cover the cost of installation, removal or reinstallation, or
damage resulting from misuse, abuse, or damage from improper wiring or installation. This
warranty does not cover incidental or consequential damages.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights which vary from
state to state. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or conse-
quential damages, or limitation on how long an implied warranty may last, so the above limi-
tations may not apply to you.
