Using the sander

This sander is designed for handling medium jobs on wood,
plastic and similar materials. It can be used for sanding
back and finishing the surface.
NOTE: Wear safety goggles, a dust mask and ear
defenders.
1. Switch the sander on before making contact with the
workpiece.
GB
2. Grip the rear of the Rubber Grip Handle (3) with one
hand and grip the Front Handle (1) with the other hand
3. Lower the sander so the whole sanding pad is resting on
the workpiece and, taking care to hold the sander parallel
to the work, move the sander over the surface of the
workpiece in a circular motion.
NOTE: Use moderate pressure only - enough to control
the machine without labouring the motor.
TIP: When sanding a rough or painted surface, start with
a course grit and work through to a finer one until the
desired finish is achieved.
NOTE: If there are still marks on your workpiece after
sanding, try using a coarser grade sandpaper and sand
the marks out before recommencing with the original
choice of grit. Alternatively, use a new piece of sandpaper
to eliminate the unwanted marks before using a finer grit
to complete the task.
WARNING. Do not use the sander in wet or damp
conditions.
TIP: In order to maximise the life of the motor, do not use
the sander continuously for more than 10-15 minutes at a
time. Allow 5-10 minutes rest between each use.
NOTE: The manufacturer recommends the use of a
residual current device with a tripping current of 30mA or
less.
Selecting the correct grade of sandpaper
WARNING: Always ensure the tool is switched off and the
plug is removed from the power socket before making any
adjustments or carrying out any maintenance procedures.
• Different grades of sanding paper can be purchased from
your local hardware store. Available grades are: Coarse,
Medium and Fine.
• Use a coarse grit to sand down rough finishes, medium
grit to smooth the work and fine grit to finish off.
NOTE: Carry out a trial 'run' on a scrap piece of material
to determine the correct grade of sandpaper for each job.
WARNING. Do not use the same sanding sheet for wood
and metal. Metal particles become embedded in the
sandpaper and will scour a wooden surface.
Using the hole punch
Sandpaper without holes will need to be punched using the
Sandpaper Hole Punch (10) provided.
1. Place the hole punch on a level surface.
2. Fit the sandpaper to the sander and align the base of the
sander with the hole punch.
Push down on the sander until
the hole punch pierces the
sandpaper.
3. Remove the sander from the
hole punch.
TIP: Depending on the
sandpaper used, you may need
to use a pointed screwdriver to
open and clear the holes to increase the efficiency of dust
extraction.
