NOTE: Retain these installation instructions with your
machine operator's manual.
Mulch plug is shipped with carriage bolt, slotted
oblong washer and retaining clip pre assembled and
should not be removed from mulch plug. Wing nut is
shipped pre assembled on carriage bolt.
Parking Safely
1. Stop machine on a level surface, not on a slope.
2. Disengage mower blades or any other attachments.
3. Lower attachments to the ground.
4. Lock the park brake.
5. Stop the engine.
6. Remove the key.
7. Wait for engine and all moving parts to stop before you
leave the operator's seat.
8. Close fuel shut-off valve, if your machine is equipped.
9. Disconnect the negative battery cable or remove the
spark plug wire (for gasoline engines) before servicing the
machine.

Remove Mulching Blades

CAUTION: Avoid injury! Mower blades are
sharp. Always wear gloves when handling
mower blades or working near blades.
1. Lock the mower deck in the up position.
2. To prevent blade from turning during removal of the
attaching hardware, place a block of wood between blade
and deck. Rotate the blade until block of wood is tight
between mower deck and blade.
3. Remove blades:

a. Remove and nut (A), beveled washer (B), and blade
(C). Repeat for other blade. Keep the blades for side
discharge mowing.
LT, and LX/GT Models:

a. Remove and retain bolt (A), washer (B), bevel
washer (C) and the blade. Repeat for other blade. Keep
the blades for side discharge mowing.
4. Deck must be clean to ensure proper fit of mulching kit.
Remove all grass build-up from underside of mower deck,
especially at the top and front surfaces. Clean inside the
mower deck lip groove around the discharge chute. Rinse
