Stylus removal and replacement
Remove and replace the stylus as shown above.
Always hold the stylus by the plastic grip. Do not
touch or damage the diamond tip or cantilever. Do
not force.
1. Mount your cartridge correctly in the tonearm and insert the stylus correctly into the cartridge.
2. Align your cartidge using the overhang tool supplied with your turntable or using an alignment protractor.
Set tracking force according to the table below.
3. Protect the stylus by carefully lowering the stylus guard when cleaning or dusting your turntable.
4. For automatic turntables, adjust the set–down position to prevent the stylus from striking the edge of the
record or turntable platter.
5. Use your tonearm's cuing device and avoid handling tonearm.
6. With manual cuing, grasp tonearm lightly and release as soon as stylus makes contact with the record.
7. Periodically check and adjust all tonearm settings. Use the Shure SFG-2 tracking force gauge for accu-
rately setting tracking force.
This Shure replacement stylus will restore your Shure cartridge to its original specifications and performance
level. Non–Shure styli are not recommended because they will compromise the performance of your cartridge,
cause mistracking and damage your records.
