Mounting
G
WARNING
Check all of the screws on the basic carrier bars are
tight and retighten, as required, every time you
mount the basic carrier bars, before each journey
and also during a long journey. Repeat these
checks at regular intervals, regardless of road
surface conditions and at the latest after 1553
miles (2,500 km) of continuous use.
Do not use any lubricants on the screws or the
basic carrier. There is otherwise a risk that the
screws loosen, and the basic carrier may come
loose from your vehicle together with the cargo,
thus injuring yourself and other persons and/or
causing material damage, including to your vehicle.
Installation/removal is illustrated using the basic
carrier bars at the front of the C-Class (W 205) by way
of example. Installation/removal of the rear basic
carrier bars on the C-Class (W 205) as well as the
installation/removal of the basic carrier bars on the
3
C-Class Coupe (C 205) and E-Class (W 213) are carried
out in the same way.
Mount/remove the basic carrier with the help of a
second person.
