TROUBLESHOOTING
EXCESSIVE TANK PRESSURE- SAFETY VALVE
POPS OFF.
Cause: Defective pressure switch.
Improper wiring.
Correction:
• Move the pressure switch lever to the "OFF"
position. If the unit doesn't shut off, unplug . If
the electrical contacts are welded together, re-
place the pressure switch.
• If the contacts are good, check to see if the pin
in the pressure release valve is stuck. If it does
not move freely, replace the valve.
• Adjust or replace pressure switch.
AIR LEAKS ATA FITTINGS
Cause: Fittings are not tight enough.
Correction: Tighten fittings where air can be
heard escaping. Check fittings with a soap and
water solution. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
AIR LEAKS AT OR INSIDE CHECK VALVE.
Cause: Defective or dirty check valve.
Correction: A defective check valve results in a
constant air leak at the pressure release valve
where there is a pressure in the tank and the
compressor is shut off. Remove and clean or re-
place check valve. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
AIR LEAKS AT PRESSURE SWITCH UNLOADER
VALVE.
Cause: Defective pressure switch unloader valve,
or defective check valve.
Correction: Contact a trained service technician.
AIR LEAKS IN AIR TANK OR AT AIR TANK WELDS.
Cause: Defective air tank .
Correction: Air tank must be replaced. Do not
repair the leak .
WARNING: WARNING DO NOT DRILL INTO,
WELD OR OTHERWISE MODIFY AIR TANK OR IT
WILL WEAKEN. THE TANK CAN RUPTURE OR EX-
PLODE.
AIR LEAKS BETWEEN HEAD AND VALVE PLATE.
Cause: Blown head gasket.
Correction: Replace gasket or contact Authori-
zed Service Technician.
PRESSURE READING ON THE REGULATED PRES-
SURE GAUGE DROPS WHEN ACCESSORY IS
USED.
Cause: It is normal for ''some" pressure drop to
occur.
Correction: If there is an excessive amount of
pressure drop when the accessory is
used, adjust the regulator following the instruc-
tions.
NOTE: Adjust the regulated pressure under flow
conditions (while accessory is being used).
E N G L I S H •
AIR LEAK FROM SAFETY VALVE.
Cause: Possible defective safety valve.
Correction: Operate safety valve manually by
pulling on ring. If valve still leaks, it should be
replaced.
COMPRESSOR IS NOT SUPPLYING ENOUGH AIR
TO OPERATE ACCESSORIES.
Cause:
• Prolonged excessive use of air.
• Compressor is not large enough for air requi-
rement.
• Restricted air intake filter.
• Unit is not plugged in.
• Hole in hose.
• Check valve restricted.
• Air leaks.
Correction:
• Decrease amount of air usage.
• Check the accessory air requirement. If it is hig-
her than the SCFM or pressure supplied by your
air compressor, you need a larger compressor.
• Clean or replace air intake filter. Do not ope-
rate the air compressor in the paint spray area.
• Plug unit into "live" electrical outlet.
• Check and replace if required.
• Remove and clean or replace.
• Tighten fittings. (See Air Leaks section of trou-
bleshooting guide).
MOTOR WILL NOT RUN.
Cause:
• Motor overload protection switch has tripped.
• Tank pressure exceeds pressure switch "cut-in"
pressure.
• Check valve is stuck open.
• Loose electrical connections.
• Possible defective capacitor.
• Paint spray on internal motor parts.
• Possible defective motor.
• Fuse Blown, circuit breaker tripped.
• Pressure unloader valve on pressure switch has
not unloaded head pressure.
Correction:
• Let motor coo l off and reset overload switch.
• Motor will start automatically when tank pres-
sure drops below "cut-in" pressure of pressu-
re switch.
• Remove and clean or replace.
• Check wiring connection inside pressure switch
and terminal box area.
• Return to an Authorized Warranty Service
Center for inspection or replacement if neces-
sary.
• Have checked at an wenling cyclone Autho-
rized Warranty Service Center. Do not opera-
te the compressor in the paint spray area. See
flammable vapor warning.
