Battery Installation Instructions
1) Make sure the power switch is OFF.
2) Remove rear panel cover of unit by releasing the two hold-tabs at the top
of the rear panel cover.
3) Remove metal brackets and mounting hardware from inside case.
4) On Dual battery installations, batteries must be secured to each other with
double sided tape (included with the 1700) and bussed together.
5) Connect the red battery cable and signal wire within the unit to the
positive (+) post of the battery.
6) Connect the black battery cable within the unit to the negative (-) post of
the battery.
7) Slide battery into the case and attach the metal mounting brackets to the
case to secure the battery. The top bracket has a lip that fits over the top of
the battery to keep the battery secure.
CAUTION: BE SURE THAT NO PORTION OF THE BRACKET COMES IN
CONTACT WITH EITHER OF THE BATTERY POSTS.
8) Replace rear panel cover and insert the two Phillips head machine screws
into holes (next to the warning label) and tighten screws to secure the rear
panel cover to the case.
Using your Rescue
Start Vehicles or Equipment
Before using your portable power pack, you should fully charge it. The fully charged
indicator light will come on when the unit has been charged. Recharge every 30 days or
when the gauge indicates less than full charge. Fluctuations in temperature can acceler-
ate battery discharge. Check your unit often.
WARNING – Risk of Battery Explosion, Fire or Failure
• Failure to keep internal battery charged will lead to permanent battery damage.
• Connecting a discharged battery to charged system could cause overheating or explosion.
• Damage may occur if the Rescue Portable Power Pack is attached to a running vehicle for
more than 30 seconds after the engine starts.
To jump start a vehicle or machine:
• Make sure the power switch is OFF.
• Connect the red (positive +) clamp to the positive terminal or post on the
discharged battery.
• Connect the black (negative –) clamp to a ground away from the battery,
such as an alternator bracket.
• Turn the power switch ON.
• Start the engine.
• Turn the power switch OFF.
• Disconnect the clamps, first negative and then positive.
