LED INDICATOR

1. When the alarm is functioning normally, the red LED will flash 1 time per 40 seconds.
2. When the battery fails or is low, the alarm will "beep" and the red LED will blink 1 time each
40 seconds.
3. When the unit is faulty, the alarm will "beep" 1 time per 40 seconds.
4. When the unit is running in the silence mode, the red LED will flash once every 8 seconds.
NOTE
When the unit beeps 1 time per 40 seconds, press the test button, the warning tone will
be paused for 8 hours.
It can still detect smoke during this period, it only removes the warning tone.
ALARM SILENCE (SILENCE MODE)
While the unit is alarming, push the test button, it will be paused for approx. 10 minutes.
The red LED will flash once every 8 seconds, it indicates the smoke alarm is running in
silence mode.
Smoke alarms are designed to minimize false alarms.
Smoke particles from cooking may set off the alarm if the alarm is located close to the
cooking area. Large quantities of smoke particles are generated from spills or when frying.
Using the fan on a cooker hood that vents to the outside (non-recirculating type) will also
help remove these smoke particles from the kitchen.
The alarm silence (test button) is extremely useful in a kitchen area or other areas prone to
false alarms. The silence feature is to be used only when you are certain that the alarm is a
false alarm, for example when smoke from cooking activates the alarm.
The smoke alarm will automatically reset after approximately 10 minutes, if after this
period, smoke particles are still present, the alarm will sound again.
The alarm silencer (silence mode) can be used repeatedly until the air has been cleared of
the condition causing the alarm.
TESTING THE SMOKE ALARM
Test each smoke alarm to be sure it is installed correctly and operating properly.
1. Do not use an open flame to test the alarm.
You may ignite and damage the alarm or your home.
2. Test the alarms weekly and upon return from vacation or when no one has been at home for
several days.
3. Stand at an arm's length from the unit when testing.
Test all smoke alarms weekly by doing the following:
4. Firmly press the test button for at least 5 seconds.
The alarm will sound 3 short beeps – 1.5 seconds pause, then repeat it until you release
the button.
The alarm may sound for up to a few seconds after releasing the test button.
DANGER
If the alarm sounds, and it is not being tested, it means the unit is sensing smoke.
The sound of the alarm requires your immediate attention and action.
