place the combined CO
/Flow sensor between the endotracheal tube and the elbow (pediatric/adult
2
circuit) as patient secretions may block the adapter windows. Do not touch the adapter windows. Ensure
the striped tubing of the flow sensor is always proximal to the patient. Keeping the tubing upright
prevents moisture from draining into the tubing of the flow sensor or combined CO
Periodically check the flow sensor and tubing. Perform a purge cycle if droplets are visible within the
sensor or tubing. Repeat if necessary. If purging does not remove the droplets, replace the sensor.
CAUTIONS
• Do not apply excessive tension to any sensor cable or pneumatic tubing.
• Excessive moisture in the sensor may affect the accuracy of the flow measurement. Inserting the
sensor in the ventilator circuit with the tubes upright helps avoid effects of excessive moisture.
• Remove the sensor from the circuit when delivering an aerosolized medication as increased
medication viscosity may contaminate the sensor windows, causing the sensor to fail prematurely.
Sensor Disposal
Follow your country's laws and local regulations regarding hospital waste disposal.
The components of this product with patient contact are latex free.
