Plug in or energize the 24V power source to provide power to the
Klaran WS. The Phihong PSAC12R-240 24V power supply available
from Klaran has been tested with the Klaran WS unit in accordance
to applicable regulations and should be used to power the Klaran
WS unit.
Flush the water system for no less than 2 minutes to prime the unit
and to confirm that water connections have been installed correctly.
If using the Optional LED on wire, the indicator LED should be on
consistently for the flushing period and turn off after flushing is
completed. If the LED does not turn on, disconnect, check, and
repair any electrical connections between the Klaran WS, power
supply, and LED on wire. If there is leakage from any portion of the
plumbing connections completed during the installation, disconnect,
check, and repair the installation plumbing connections before
further operation of the Klaran WS.
To reduce the presence of pathogens existing in the water
distribution system before the installation of the Klaran WS,
complete a full system disinfection procedure before consuming or
using any water from the system.
Disinfection Procedure
UV disinfection is a physical disinfection process and does not add any
potentially harmful chemicals to the water. As UV does not provide a
disinfection residual, it is imperative that the entire distribution system
located after the UV be chemically disinfected to ensure that the plumbing
system is free from any bacteriological contaminants. The disinfection
process must be performed immediately after the UV unit is installed and
repeated thereafter if the UV reactor is without power, or inoperative for
any reason.
Operation
When connected to water lines and operating power, the Klaran WS unit
monitors for water flow using an integrated sensor. When the flow sensor
detects a flow rate of over .5 liters per minute, the UV LEDs are enabled
to accomplish UV treatment. UV LEDs are disabled once the flow sensor
detects a flow rate of under .5 liters per minute.
Under some operating conditions filtered water resident in the UV
chamber may contain microbial contaminants. In normal operation
Klaran WS should remain powered in standby mode to permit the unit
to operate LED ON for a minimum of two (2) minutes every 12 cumulative
hours of inactivity to prevent the growth of microbial colonies and
potential for biofilm formation. The Klaran WS will perform this operation
independently under normal operating conditions and correct installation.
The Optional LED on wire will display unit status of a properly installed and
powered Klaran WS unit.
The LED indicates status of the Klaran WS using the following indication
logic:
Status
Indicator LED Output
UVC Disinfection Off
LED off
UVC Disinfection On
LED 100% On
End of Service Life,
LED blinking On once per second
replacement required
Fault, restart required
LED blinking On 5 times per second
