Operating Your XV1 Series
Installing the Batteries
The XV1 series batteries are partially charged when shipped. They should be fully charged prior to use.
1. Insert a fully charged battery into each battery pod. The metal contacts of the battery should be visible
in the battery pod opening.
2. With the batteries inside, screw each battery pod clockwise onto the temple arms. Do not over-tighten
the battery pods.
Operating the Headlight
The XV1 series uses capacitive touch controls, making the light simple to operate during clinical procedures.
1. Touch and hold the emblem on either temple arm to turn the headlight on and off.
2. Tap the emblem on either temple arm to alternate the light intensity between low and high. The XV1
series remembers your light intensity setting when turned off, and it will automatically return to that
setting when used again.
3. Place your XV1 series on your head and adjust to a comfortable working position. Turn the headlight on
and tilt it to the appropriate angle to illuminate your visual field while looking through the telescopes.
Using the Curing Filter
The curing filter should be used when working with light-cured polymers. When applying these materials,
unfiltered light from the headlight can cause premature curing of the polymer. The curing filter is made up of
two components, the black bezel ring that is secured to the end of the headlight and the orange filter that
can be flipped up and down as needed during procedures.
• If you don't require the curing filter for your practice, you can remove it from the headlight. To remove
the curing filter, flip the orange filter to the UP-position and carefully pull the black bezel ring off the
headlight. Do not pull on the orange curing filter itself.
• To attach the curing filter, flip the orange filter to the UP-position and carefully push the black bezel ring
onto the headlight, making sure the hinge is at the top. Do not push on the orange curing filter itself.

Battery Indicator Lights
Each temple arm has a low-battery indicator light that illuminates SCARLET when the corresponding bat-
tery is ready to be recharged. The XV1 series automatically draws power from the second battery when the
capacity of the first battery is depleted. The battery indicator light will blink when the headlight is turned
off and will remain illuminated when the headlight is turned on.
Charging the Batteries
The XV1 series comes with four rechargeable batteries, allowing two batteries to be in use while two
are charging.
1. Plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet and into the charger.
2. Insert batteries into the charger bays and press down to ensure they are fully seated. The metal contacts
of the batteries should be inserted first and not visible while charging.
3. Each charger indicator light will illuminate AMBER when the battery in that bay is charging and will turn
GREEN when that battery is fully charged.
