Will it work with a controller/thermostat?
Yes. If it is turned on at the time when power is shut off from it, it will automatically turn back on when
power is resupplied.
What is deadband?
Deadband is the number of degrees during which the compressor will turn off after the set point is
reached. For this unit it is 3°F. That means if set at 80°F, it will cool to 78°F, then turn back on at 80°F,
effectively keeping temp between 78-80°F.
Why isn't there a dehumidify and cool mode together?
AC and dehumidify are very similar actions. When in cool mode, it will dehumidify; this is the nature of
air conditioning. As humid air passes over the cold condenser, moisture condenses. To more effectively
dehumidify, the fan speed must be reduced (this is essentially dehumidify mode).
What about the water that collects?
Water will collect in the reservoir inside the unit. If your unit fills up quickly and frequently, install a
drain tube from the back of the unit (remove plug from drain outlet on bottom rear of unit). However,
much of the collected water is evaporated and exhausted.
To control humidity and temperature effectively and independently, use an air conditioner and a
dehumidifier with a controller like the APCETHD.
Can I extend the ducting?
This is not recommended, and will void warranty if done. If ducting must be longer than the 6' of
ducting included, a mini split is recommended.
My TV remote is changing settings on the AC! How do I stop this?
Use tape to cover up the IR sensor to the left of the display on front of unit. If that doesn't work, paint
nail polish on the tape. Nail polish effectively blocks IR waves.
TROUBLESHOOTING
The unit is not cooling the grow room enough.
• The unit can effectively cool a room with up to 2000W of air-cooled HID lighting. Do not attempt to cool a
room with more than 2000W of lighting with a single ACAN14.
• There should not be other significant heat sources in the room such as CO
• The maximum room size this unit should be used to cool is 800 cubic feet (10' x 10' x 8').
• Be sure that the unit's ventilation has been set up properly and that the unit is exhausting to the exterior
(outdoors) and is also pulling intake air from the exterior.
• The maximum temperature for the inlet air is 95°F.
• Insulate the unit's ducting for best results.
The unit does not operate and the display is flashing an "Er" message.
• The unit has been upgraded with an overvoltage protection function which prevents the unit
from operating if input voltage exceeds 140V. In this instance, the display will flash Er.
