CAUTION - Some components may be too hot to touch, even after
the mains supply has been switched off.
The battery is permanently connected to the printed circuit board which
may be live even though the mains is not connected and the lamps are
not operating. DO NOT TOUCH COMPONENTS OR TUBE LEADS.
DO NOT MEGGER TEST after installation. Use either an AVO type
meter or disconnect the Live and Neutral before testing the insulation
resistance - this is best achieved by unclipping the luminaire from the
base moulding.
IMPORTANT - Installers are reminded of the British Standard Code of
Installation
Remove diffuser from the body by gently pulling apart at the end of the
unit - Coin slots are provided. Undo the body moulding screw 6-7 turns
(see figure 1).
Remove the base moulding from the luminaire by inserting a small
screwdriver into the holes in the side of the body whilst pulling the base
A
moulding away from the body (see figure 2).
The base moulding may be screwed to any surface using the four fixing
holes in the corners or onto a conduit box using the integral BESA
aperture.
For recess mounting, cut a hole 320mm x 123mm to accept the body
L
moulding. The luminaire may be retained using screws through the four
N
fixing points provided (No. 8 screws are recommended, of a length to
suit the structure of the mounting surface).
For wall mounting applications the terminal block in the mounting plate
should be in the lowest position so that the LED indicator will be in the
most visible position.
For conduit wiring the conduit should be secured using saddles and
clips external to the unit but in line with the centreline of the base
moulding. Remove the knockout sections from the ends of the body
and the base moulding. If the conduit or cable is metal clad then earth
continuity should be maintained using the Earth Continuity link secured
with nuts after threading the conduit ends.
For all applications the wires should be routed behind the base
moulding and through the central hole before securing the base
moulding to the mounting surface.
Wiring
The fitting must be connected to a permanent uninterrupted a.c. supply
of suitable voltage and frequency as indicated on the unit, via a
fuse/circuit breaker rated at 10 amps max.
The terminal block is located on a hinged section of the base moulding,
see figure 3. Unhinge this and expose the terminal block, the terminal
block may be removed for ease of connection if required.
Connect the mains supply as follows:
Live:
Neutral:
Terminal size 2.5mm2
Ensure that the terminal block is relocated on the hinged section with
the wires towards the centre hole and clip this back into position. Use
the self tap screw clipped into the base moulding to secure. DO NOT
OVER TIGHTEN (see figure 4).

The luminaire is double insulated and does not itself
require an earth connection.
