mounting instructions
NOTE:
Mounting flanges of grab bar must be
aligned to mount to wall studs. Wood screws
must go through the wall board or tile and attach
to wood wall studs for solid support. For plastic
tub and shower enclosures, drill through wall and
mount grab bar to wall studs.
1.
Place grab bar on wall in line with wall studs
and mark location of screw holes. (Horizontal
Attachment See Figure 1, Vertical Attachment
See Figure 2.) After deciding on type of
attachment, drill small hole to confirm the
location of the stud.
CAUTION:
Wood screws should only be used in
wooded wall studs.
2.
Determine for each flange whether to use
wood screws or toggle bolts (not included).
WARNING:
At least two wood screws in each
flange must be attached to wall studs or grab
bar may pull out and serious injury could
result
3.
Use masonry bit to drill through tile or
grout. For wood screws, drill small pilot hole
into wood studs.
4. After holes are drilled, place grab bar on wall
and attach with wood screw. If using toggle
bolts (not included), make sure bolt is
attached to grab bar flange before being
forced into hole.
NOTE:
Use caulking around grab bar flanges to
prevent moisture from seeping in.
NOTE:
Clean with mild soap and rinse with
warm water.
5.
Tighten all screws and bolts with screwdriver.
Check periodically for tightness. Never use
grab bar if any looseness is detected as it
could result in personal injury.

This grab bar meets ADA & CSA Standards for
Accessible Design.
The ADA & CSA provide guidelines for public accommo-
dations and commercial facilities. Under these guide-
lines grab bars must meet following requirements.
•
Installed horizontally
•
Provide a sizeable gripping surface
•
Diameters of 1.25" – 2"
•
Space between the grab bar and the wall of at
least 1.5", so that someone can easily grab onto the
bar
•
Cannot rotate in their fittings, as that makes it
more difficult to use as support
•
Support up to 250 lbs.
Your Drive grab bar meets each of these standards.
Below are some additional tips to consider when install-
ing a grab bar in your own personal residence:
•
Make sure surroundings have rounded edges and
are free of sharp edges
•
Objects below and at the ends of the bar should be
at least 1.5" away
•
Objects above should be at least 12" away
