MULTICHANNEL AMPLIFIERS SA501, SA502, SA503, SA511
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Multichannel amplifiers SA501, SA502 (more powerfull version), SA503 - without slope and SA511 are parts of medium
and large SMATV networks. The main purposes of SA501, SA502, SA503 are:
- to compensate signals loss in the network;
- to equalize the power of signals in different lines;
- to supply voltage to LNB converters and other network elements (e. g. terrestrial amplifiers, active splitters, couplers,
interstage amplifiers SA511, series MSV multiswitches).
Amplifiers SA501, SA502, SA503 are usually installed at the beginning of the network or after the first or second
multiswitch in a system (figure 1).
Amplifiers SA511 are designed for further network expanding where more amplifiers are needed. This series performs
the same functions as SA501 except it does not have its own power supply. These amplifiers are powered from SA501,
SA502, SA503 or other 12-18 V power supply unit through horizontal polarization lines. External power supply can be
connected to the lines through "AUX 18V" on SA511 (figure 2).
Amplifiers have been manufactured according to safety standard EN60065.
The amplifiers are intended for indoor use only.
RoHS compliant.
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Installation of the amplifiers must be done according local safety standards and by qualified personnel.
Amplifiers SA501, SA502, SA503 are powered from mains 230 V~ (this voltage is dangerous to life) and SA511 - from line
12...20 V~ via input connector.
Any repairs must be done by a qualified personnel.
Amplifiers SA501, SA502, SA503 are double isolated from mains 230 V~.
To avoid the electric shock follow these instructions:
Do not remove the cover of the power supply section, without isolating the unit from the mains supply.
Do not plug the amplifier into the mains supply if the power cord or plug is damaged.
Do not plug the amplifiers SA501, SA502, SA503 into the mains supply until all cables have been connected correctly.
To disconnect the amplifiers SA501, SA502, SA503 disconnect plug from mains socket.
The mains socket must be easily accessible.
To disconnect the amplifier SA511 from supply voltage, disconnect the cable from input connector.
The amplifier shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing water and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall
be placed on it.
Avoid placing amplifier next to central heating components and in areas of high humidity.
No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on amplifier.
If the amplifier has been kept in cold conditions for a long time, keep it in a warm room no less than 2 hours before
plugging into the mains.
The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, table-
cloths, curtains.
Mount the amplifier in vertical position with RF output connectors underneath.
From top, front and bottom of installed amplifier must be at least 10 cm free space.
This product complies with the relevant clauses of the European Directive 2002/96/EC. The unit must be recycled
or discarded according to applicable local and national regulations.
OPERATING
A multichannel amplifier consists of highly isolated individual amplifiers for every incoming line. Gain controls of each
amplifier is located between input and output connectors of corresponding line.
Terrestrial line amplifier has slope regulator placed near the corresponding gain control. The SAT line amplifiers have
constant slope.
Amplifiers SA501, SA502, SA503 provide voltage 18 V to all horizontal polarization connectors, voltage 14 V to all vertical
polarization connectors and 12 V to terrestrial input connector. The switch on the output side of multichannel amplifier
enables disconnecting of output "H, Lo" and "H, Hi" connectors from 18 V power supply. This is useful in large networks for
prevention of interference among several power supply units that are incorporated. The switch near the terrestrial path allows
disconnecting of voltage 12 V from input line to prevent short-circuting of power supply if terrestrial amplifier is not installed.
Both 18 V and 14 V voltage sources has short-circuit protection with LED indicators. Green light on it indicates normal
operation. Red light signals, that short-circuit occurred in corresponding circuit. After that the power supply must be
disconnected from mains and network must be repaired. Do not connect power supply before 30 seconds time passed.
Amplifiers series SA511 are powered through both horizontal polarization lines. This way enables to minimize the loss
of voltage in the lines. Multichannel amplifier SA511 consumes the current of 200 mA from 18 V power supply.
Both series of amplifiers have DC through path in every SAT line. It provides flexibility for installation of power supply
units inside the network.
