Assembly and mounting instructions
Ensure both sections of the plastic filter retainer (B) are in the fan inlet

grooves and the filter mat (C) is in position against the filter retainer.

In ert the rack fan (A) into the mounting position and secure the fan
D
onto the rack mounting flanges. Position the facia onto the fan and
secure using the two crosspoint screws provided.
Note: Under no circumstances should the fan be run without the filter
fitted in position. This can overload the fan motor, resulting in
premature failure.
Supply connection
The a.c. fans (RS stock nos. 506-873 and 506-889) are connected to
the mains utilising a terminal block fitted to the fan (figure 2). Connect
the incoming mains supply as shown in the figure.
Note: Do not make any connection to the unmarked terminal this is
internally pre-wired to the built-in motor start capacitor.
The d.c. fans (RS stock no. 500-960) are connected via the terminal
block provided observing the polarity indicated on a label adjacent to
the terminal block.
Changing the filter
Unfasten the two crosspoint screws on the facia grille (D) and remove
the facia and the filter mat (C).
Wash the filter mat in warm soapy water and allow to dry. Do not wring
the filter. Refit the filter (repacement filters are available if required - see
current RS catalogue for details).
Refit the facia grille using the two crosspoint screws.
