8 - SPECIFIC INFORMATION
EN: The class III Personal Protective Equipment 254.S00 "CIAPIN FAST" and
254.S10 "CIAPIN EVOLUTION FAST" are:
- flexible fastening elements without adjustment system for the simultaneous
fastening of up to 6 users, 2 of whom fastened separately to the holes (C) of
the plate (A) and 4 fastened separately to the slots (D);
- suitable for use up to -30°C and wet up to -4°C;
- part of a system for protection and/or prevention against impact due to falls
from heights;
-certified in compliance with the EN354:10 standard, the RfU CNB/P/11.114
requirements and tested in compliance with the relevant points of CEN/
TS16415.
Fig. 1 – Use with several users - The device is designed to be fastened to the
anchoring point by means of the hole (B) of the plate (A). The holes (C) and the
slots (D) are suitable to fasten the users to the anchoring.
Fig. 2 – Use with one user – This device can be used as a fastening element
using the hole (B), the holes (C) and the slots (D) (the secondary seams (F/G)
have a 2 kN resistance in this configuration).
Fig. 3 - Examples of improper and dangerous use.
Fig. 4 – Maximum loads - The maximum load sustainable by the textile part
of this device is 6 kN.
Compatibility – This device was designed to be used combined with:
- anchoring points compliant with the EN795 standard;
- energy dissipators compliant with the EN355 standard;
- connectors compliant with the EN362 and/or EN12275 standard;
- harness compliant with the EN361, EN813, EN1497 and/or EN12277 stan-
dard;
- hooks for winches from helicopter directly fastened to the hole (B).
According to EASA CM-CS-005 Issue 1, this device may be used as PCDS
(Personal Carrying Device System) for a load up to 250kg.
Pre and post use checks – Before and after use make sure that the device is
in efficient condition and working properly, particularly check that:
- is suitable for the use you intend to make of it;
- all seams (main and secondary) are intact;
- the metal works show signs of cracks or wear and whether they have been
subjected to mechanical deformations;
- the textile parts show signs of cuts, burns, chemical products residues, ex-
cessive hair, wear, in particular check the areas at contact with the metal
components (buckles, rings, etc.);
- markings are still readable.

Important:
- the total length of the fall restraint system including this device fastened to an
energy absorber (e.g. device + absorber + connectors) shall not exceed 2 m;
- the user's safety is guaranteed should the intermediate seams break, given
that the resistance of the device (32 kN) remains intact even in the event of
all secondary seams broken;
- the tear-off secondary seams (G) positioned on the extended arm are exclu-
sively used to reduce limited overloads that may occur during use; further-
more, they do not replace an energy dissipator compliant with the EN 355
standard;
- when positioning the device, verify whether:
- the anchoring point is positioned above the user,
- the system which this device is part of is always stretched so as to
limit any fall.
Warning:
- take appropriate measures should the device be used close to sharp edges;
- when the device is connected to several users, the intermediate seams (F/G)
may break in case of fall;
- particular conditions (e.g. heat, cold, humidity, oil, dust) could hinder or affect
the performance of this device;
- do not insert connectors between the webbings, simultaneously into several
holes (D) or in slots (D) and holes (B/C);
- when the device is connected to the anchoring by means of the slots (D), the
use shall be limited to holding manoeuvres and without exposure to the risk
of falling;
- do not use this device:
- tied in a knot,
- with the vacant slots connected to the harness;
- to stop a fall without the energy dissipation system;
- connected to an energy absorber and two or more users;
- connected to an energy absorber and alongside (in parallel) a lanyard
connected to another energy absorber.
