Installing a controller
• TO AVOID FIRE SHOCK OR DEATH; TURN OFF POWER at a circuit breaker or fuse and test that
power is off before wiring in a Levven Controls product.
• Install and/or use Levven Controls in accordance with local electrical codes and regulations.
• Levven Controls controllers are to be mounted in electrical junction boxes of suitable size to
satisfy the electrical code in your area.
• If you are unsure about any part of these instructions, consult a qualified electrician.
1) Connect wires to the controller (Fig 1)
a. Connect the black power wire to the black wire of the controller
b. Connect the black load wire to the red wire from the controller
c. Connect the white wires from the power, load, and controller together
2) Mount the controller in an electrical box
a. Insert the controller inside an electrical box.
b. The antenna can be inside a plastic electrical box without affecting wireless reception. If using
steel electrical boxes, position the controller's antenna wire outside the box for best reception.
3) Turn power on
a. When your connections are safely completed, energize the circuit by turning the power on at
the panel.
b. When powered, the LED status indicator on the controller will illuminate.
4) Group controllers (if using multiple controllers)
a. All controllers in a building or area must be grouped together. Grouping controllers together
permits one switch to operate multiple controllers or adding Levven Q to access controllers
from a mobile device. Only controllers with no previously saved group or pairing can join a
group.
b. Press and release the 'Pair' button on one of the controllers in the group (C1). This controller's
LED will blink green.
c. Press 'Pair' button on new controller being added to the group (C2). Its LED will blink green,
and the first controller's LED will blink red/green.
d. Press 'Pair' button on the first controller (C1) again to complete the grouping. Its LED will flash
green three times to confirm the group setting was saved.
5) How to reset a controller
a. To clear the controller's paired switch memory, press and hold the 'Pair' button for 5 seconds.
The LED will flash red to indicate the switch pairings have been cleared.
b. To remove a controller from a group, press and hold its 'Pair' button for 10 seconds. The LED
will flash red to indicate the memory has been cleared.
c. If using multiple controllers, group the controller before pairing it with other switches.
6) Pair switches and controllers
a. Press and release the 'Pair' button on the controller. The LED on the controller will flash green.
b. Send a pairing code from the switch by pressing both ends at the same time. Squeeze both
ends of the switch simultaneously, then quickly release. On release, the switch transmits a
unique pair code to the controller. When the controller receives the pairing code from the
switch, its LED status indicator will flash green/red.
c. Press and release the controller's 'Pair' button to confirm the pairing. Its LED will flash green to
confirm the pairing was saved successfully.
NOTE: If there is no pairing request received within 60 seconds, the controller will quit the
pairing procedure and the LED will return to a solid green indicator.
7) Mounting and using switches
a. Levven Controls switches can be secured to any surface.
b. Screws and anchors are provided to mount switches.
c. Use a decorator-style wall plate or Levven Controls Designer Series wall plate to finish the
installation.
d. Press and release "Up" to send an "on" command to the controller. "Down" sends the "off"
command.
